Taking a cactus cutting without contams

I've got a san pedro that just keeps molding every time I cut some off.
It all started when I decided to eat half the 20" cutting, and grow out the rest in the summer time. This was during the winter.
I sterilize a sharp knife with alcohol. After I cut it, I put it in the garage, which is cold.
The damn thing still molds after all my attempts to do a sterile cut.
Should it be cut at an angle or straight?
There is some grey mold on the top. Should I apply hyrdrogen peroxide?
What am I doing wrong? Should I just give up on this cactus?

dont give up.. ok the sterlized knife is good.. take the cutting and keep it somewhere warm for anywhere from 10-45 days.. out of direct sunlight.. until the wound is healed.. then replant it.. and dont water it for 2-3 weeks.. ull be set!

Wow, a whole 2 pages? Must contain a lot of info...lol. Sorry I'm sure it's good info though.
The most important thing with cuttings is to let them callouse (dry / scab over on the wound) but I'm sure you probably already know that. So in winter when it's cold and damp, you can actually get the callous process sped up by putting the wound in front of a fan heater.

The most important thing is to keep the cutting dry. Im pretty sure your cold garage is quite damp, which causes the molding problems.

If you leave a cutting somewhere warm and out of direct sunlight for 45 days, the growing tip will etiolate a lot and you'll probably have to cut off the tip so it'll have non-etiolated pups.
PS I wasn't really knocking you dude. Infact I'd love to see your grow guide. And maybe some pics of your collection!
