Amazing movie.
I really liked it anyway...definitely worth at least a rental. If not a purchase.
The ending scene may be the best I've seen in any film.

me too... is it a suspense? horror? drama? action? I need to renew my blockbuster movie pass. free rentals all month, for only $29 flat fee. when I do that, I lock myself in my room, and literally watch like 50 movies over a month.. It's tons of fun and wasted time.
Wait, I remeber looking at the box. It's about the black urban youth in the city, right? I always passed it up, for some reason.

The dvd has a documentary in the special features section that is i.m.o. at least as good as the movie. "news from a personal war" It details in a no-bullshit kind of way, exactly what the drug war looks like in Brazil.

Yes! I watched in Portuguese totally worth it.It would take too much away from the movie to listen to it dubbed in English.and i don't even know Portuguese.

Definitely rent it! This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. No doubt about it. It is based on a true story, too.
Krishna--I was really disappointed by The Constant Gardener. I thought it was very boring and drawn out. A real let down, after City of God.

Its actually one of my favourite movies, it is subtitled, but there really isn't that much dialogue to pay attention to.
If you haven't rented it and are looking for it, you'll find it in the foreign films section at blockbuster.

Yup, very stylish movie. And I hope you're kidding when you say they dubbed it in english?! Portugese is very pleasurable to the ear, even when they're talking shit!
I love the part where the main character decides he has to go down the violent way and rob/kill someonefor money, but keeps on meeting chill people to which he doesn't want to do any harm, with one of them even smoking him out. How can you rob someone who's offering you to roll a joint!
And the ending is awesome as well.

i thought it was pretty good. definitely much slower and more 'reserved' than city of god - but i think that helped lend to the 'Trial'-esque feeling of the movie - stuck in beaurocracy, peoples' lives just bounce around meaninglessly, some of them making billions and billions, and others dying testing experimental pharmaceuticals they don't even know they are taking- all just waves in an inhuman machine. plus just to raise the question of corporate autonomy is a valuable one in our age

A freind made me watch it a few months back. It was late at the time and I was really tired. Didn't think I could be bothered with the subtitles as I was falling asleep, but the film had me instantly grasped. It really got me thinking and now I can't believe I almost refused to watch it.
