Ghetto Eberbach blender

Old info, but I thought I would kick it out - again.
For the sake of those who don't know.

For those of you who cannot afford a lab grade blender.

You can often often find old blenders in thrift stores.
(under $10 in cost)
That have a container fitting that is PP5 plastic.
(meaning the parts can be PC'ed, or boiled)
And, a regular size quart mason jar will screw right into.

Certainly, you need a G/B to be opening & closing it in.
But, it is a cheap sterile way to slurry LC's and/or other things.

The old 9er Tek outlined this, but I always found that the blender bases are hit or miss.  One would melt in the PC, the next wouldn't.  If you can get one that won't melt, there is no better innoculant than tissue slurry in sterilized water.

I made the mistake of using my wife's blender and lost the little rubber gasket to the bottom part. My wife had not used this thing since the day she bought it, but the next week she got a wild hair up her ass and decided to make some "smoothies" with her girlfriends.

I'm sure you know how the rest of the story goes....

Foo Man got no booty that night

This is a 12 year old thread but what the hell. As the poster wrote if the recycling code is #5 you're probably good. Only way to find out is to check the model before you buy.
