bad representation of lsd in movie =(

so last night i watched harvard man with my girlfriend and one of her friends. throughout the movie the main character talks about transcending ordinary reality, he does this throiugh sex and marijuana. his teacher tells him about lsd and how there are a shitload of people from the 60s who took it and never came down and are all in mental hospitals... her mother being one of them. well this guys friend is a chem major who happens to syntesize lsd with the original sandoz formula, they HAD to throw that name in there to make it sound super "legit". in any case she comes to his room and says... there are 3 sugar cubes in here, only take one per trip they each have 5,000 micrograms of lsd in them! she says this as if 5,000 micrograms is enough for a heavy trip but nohting out of the ordinary... (another clue that these people had no idea what they were talking about.) the last straw is the guy takes all 3 cubes, is tripping balls runs into the girl that gave it to him and is telling her how he found God is God we are all God, about the beauty and meaning of life. some of the rambling was describing an egoloss experience for sure but after he says this he asks, "how long do people usually trip for?" to which the girl responds the bad thing with lsd is, for a lot of people it lasts forever. this just shatters his psyche and he hears this repeated over and over in his head along with many other voices, and it continues and the voices get faster and faster, needless to say its super heavy. at the end of the movie he gets an "antidote" i think thorazine or some thing along that line from an "expert" who deals only in the field of people who have lsd and never return. he tells the boy hes lucky he didnt permanently fuck himself and to never touch another drug again. at the very end he gets into photography and is out on this field around harvard (where he goes to school) and is fine and all of a sudden he hears in that insane inner voice... for some people it never ends for some people it never ends, this goes on for a few seconds and he gets himself together but the closing shot is of his dialted pupils and sweat beading on his forheard leaving it up to you to decide if he is "permanetly fucked from lsd as most people". the kicker about this is, i was with my gf and her friends and they were like o my god lsd is so bad i dont know why anyone would be dumb enough to do it. up untill this point my gf and i had been plannin on trippin on some soon as she has never done it before, i dont think she will now. all the people that saw it except me went away fearing lsd and condemning it. i know the truth as i have done it many times and not once had a flash back or anything of that nature. THANKS HOLLYWOOD

I'd have been sitting there watching the movie and pointing out all the inaccuracies and misleading information and events that the movie portrays. :p

hate to say it : but since when were movies really accurate representations of anything ever? (Unless its a documentary of course)
While it?s a shame to see a substance we like be demonized and represented in such an inaccurate way, its par for the course for just about anything in Hollywood.

Yeah the movie was poor. I think the director himself had a really bad LSD trip once and that is what he was trying to portray on film. Did he really have to weave the most retarded fucking story around it ever, though?
But, you gotta admit, some of LSD effects were pretty nice. Some of the better looking visual effects I have seen when trying to show an altered consciousness.

yea they were good effects but i dont see where he got the idea that its a very real risk to take on lsd that u might never come back, if that was a major risk i dont think wed all be doing it quite so much

Hearing the description of the movie makes me want to find the director and put 15,000 micrograms of LSD in his coffee.

If you're dumb enough to gather you information on LSD from a fictional movie, you're too dumb to do LSD... Think of all the propaganda as a filter, there are those who will believe whatever they hear because they don't want to know the truth or they don't care what the actual answer is enough to look for it, then there are those who are determined to know what they can about things and who are willing to do the research before taking it...

thats simply terrible. and sticky i agree there are those who are willing to do the research, my favorite saying about drug dosing i found on the erowid webstite. know your body know your substance know your source, be safe. but then there are the few ass hats who take every bit of propiganda in reverse effect dont care to know the trouth and do outrageous doses of things and essentialy prove the propiganda right. its the uneducated that make the rest of us responsible spiritual adventurers(trippers) look like a bunch of idiotic drug junkies.

I agree that the movie does make LSD out to be a "bad time," but, for some people, who are unprepared and stupid (such as the douche in the move who drops "1500mg," it can be overwhelming.
I still like the film, though... the visual effects were good and the actor accurately potrays a person tripping.

that makes me mad. why would people feel the need to do that? how can so much hate revolve around LSD? I wish more people could experience it and hopefully change the overall view towards it.

A bad trip can be that bad. Though, it seems a more common weak minded reaction to strong psychedelics is to never do them again and demonize them at any chance.

Nahhh, he didn't give the horrendous plot away at all. Shit, you should still see it if that intersts you. Sex and scandal are all that need to be mentioned. Plus straight from fucking to blunt smoking. Watch it and tell me that plot was meant to be taken seriously. Ha.

15000 micrograms of LSD would maybe/probably/definitely make a guy not "come back" but holy shit, if each drop straight outta the bottle is around 50 micrograms, those sugar cubes would have been sitting in a pool of acid. Sounds like the modern LSD equivelant to "Reefer Madness." Sad.

man she said that 1 hit was really strong and not to take more than that..... and she was talking about how that acid made regular acid look like sprite or something implying how out of the ordinary it actually was...plus they were sugarcubes so there could be a ton of acid on a sugarcube
anyways i think it was a decent representation of my trips...my best trips on acid have been like his.... wandering around all night haveing learned the meaning of life and God and all existence
and my worse trips have been like that too, hundreds of thoughts repeating in circles driving me insane, trying to escape but never being able to get away
although if i were on that much acid i would just be laying there....no way would i be moving around
and i havent dosed in a long time and i still get visuals everyday
just my opinion but i thought it was an interesting interpretation of lsd...i also dont think its purpose was to demonize lsd

Yeah, it really just showed the true power of LSD to go bad, or teach you things. Depending on how you view things. I have to agree, the movie was a great representation of what happens when things go bad. In fact, this movie could do much to help tripper's reconcile the bad parts of trips if they would pay close attention and solve the problem in a way much unlike the main character of the movie. By the way, he played a great tripping person. He must have had a taste of acid himself, he was spot on. I liked how some of the peak sequences(when he was in the cab) were so constricting.

Not a great film, but I thought the director was being really tongue in cheek - all that stuff about "You must remember LSD is now like cyanide for you" was so heavy handed it couldn't be anything but irony.
