Drugless trip report: Dancing till I drop

This weekend, I made my way out to a club that I rather like, to see a DJ I quite like some more. Tony Rohr - master of the funky voodoo techno live PA, with big beats, heady sounds, and grooves that kept my feet pounding far longer than I thought I had energy for.
I had arrived at the club at around 1:30am or so to hear the cinematic sound scapes of Metalogic. His blend of psy-infused techno which sounds like it could be a soundtrack to a sci-fi movie created a good vibe in the room. I had been dead tired before arriving at the club due to a night of poor sleep before, so running on almost zero sleep, at 1:30am, sober ? so getting me moving was to be an effort in itself.
The music was good, and quickly started to find myself ?in the zone?, where my head was clear of all thoughts, ideas, or worries ? and my feet began to move as my arms begin to swing around my body ? I got into the music, and the exhaustion of the day began to slip away. His set went on, and I don?t think I left the dancefloor once.
My friend that I was with had mentioned wanting E, I told him ?No thanks, I?m enjoying myself enough sober as is, I don?t need drugs tonight? ? and I continued to pound the dance floor with as much energy as I could muster.
Next up on the decks was Tony Rohr, well ? not so much decks, as a pile of equipment for him to perform his live PA on ? laptops, mixers, and all sorts of other bits and bobs to create a dark, dense atmospheric musical journey. Ranging from straight up techno, to trippy-heady ?voodoo techno? that he is so famous for, I found myself again ? glued to the dance floor, yelling, cheering, screaming and dancing my ass off.
However, my energy started to crash ? and I was running on fumes, and now and then would find myself sitting on the sides, bopping my head, and wishing I could get up and dancing again.
More than once, I got up from my seat to get ready to go home, only for a build to come up, a baseline to drop and a beat to kick in to get me up hooting and hollering again as I drifted back into a thoughtless space of sound and music.
By the end of his set, I was exhausted ? and there were still hours more of music to come, but as much as I hated to leave, I collected my coat, hailed a taxi and made my way home. I felt exhausted, tired, relaxed ? but in the best possible way.
Now and then, it can be easy to forget how fun it can be to party while sober ? it?s nice to be so into the music that you cant stop dancing because it is GOOD music, and not just the MDMA, or the mushrooms, or the LSD making it sound better (mind you, good music while on these substances will sound damn amazing :P, I don?t mean to discount them or say people only like it because they are high).
By time I got home, I relaxed in front of the TV before crawling into bed at around 5am, and slept probably one of the most restful sleeps I?ve had in a long time, and woke up at 2:30pm the day after feeling amazing.
More often the past few months, I?ve been going to clubs/parties/raves while sober ? while the urge to drop an E still pops up now and then, I find quite often I end up having an amazing time 100% sober anyways, and with the luxury of not being sketchy, tired and feeling like crap the day after.
I spent my first 3 years partying, doing it sober ? its kind of nice to be doing it again, if even only once in a while - nice to mix things up a little bit.

GOod stuff.
You have a strong mind.
You needn't rely on chemcials all the time...especially if you wanna take a break, but still go chill with people.
It's a very important post, your testimony, because I'm sure there're a lot of users out their that couldn't imagine being in a similiar scence without induced highs. I'm one of them.
IN this confusing world with artificial brainwashed people..that lack souls...it is hard for one to ignore this hellish trip, and be themselves to the full extreme of content..without a good natural drugvibe.
Nothing wrong with relying on weed, though. I couldn't imagine my life without her.
Keep on PEACIN'.

I know someone who used to go to clubs very often where everyone else where rolling on MDMA. She never once took MDMA (or any other drugs for that matter). Apparently she would just trip off of everyone else's vibes. Sounds like a lot of fun I think. I only wish I knew of places like that.

Thanks, was curious to how this report would go over here
The past while, I seem to be on a bit of a sobrity-kick. I've pretty much 'quit' the party drugs during the school year (had exceptions at NYE and Spring Break), rarely drink anymore.
Been in the proccess of cutting back on weed - eventually 100% quitting (for a break, not forever, heh) and on day #8 of not even touching it.
The last drug I've done (with the exception of weed), is LSD on March 11th.
I'm debating doing LSD again this weekend, but part of me wants to follow through on my no-drug detox/take a break from it untill the end of my exams in April - and have a nice post-exam celebration/trip on April 21st after my last exam, and by then - it should be nice, and sunny, and warm, and green outside so I can enjoy the trip out-side the entire time.
I am having some fairly minor 'withdrawl' symptoms from weed - but the last day or two they seem to be going away pretty much, so nothing worth bitching about really.
Some times taking a break from the drugs can be as fun/enjoyable as the drugs themself
I typically go outside while tripping, but its more for an hour or two walk then back home where its warm, would love to spend the majority of the trip outside in a nice park with my ipod.
and, its really top-notch LSD also, so sort of want to save it for a special day, and not just 'any old trip'.

Funny, I'm on the same program as you pretty much. Following a hellaciously long DOC trip I started a break from all drugs, particularly weed. Its been about two weeks since I smoked and man do I feel good. I got a new job this weekend and am taking care of homework in advance. I decided to give the psychedelics and MDMA a rest as well. I found myself way too obsessed with RC's and which ones I wanted to try and what not.
Our finals end the first week of May, and there is a rave on May 6th, when my hiatus from drugs will come to a screetching halt
Until then, though, It'll be sobriety, which is so damn refreshing.

I wish that I could be gifted with the convienance of having "any old trip". Sheeyit someone throw a hit on the ground, and it's a safe bet my ass be on the ground all up in that shit.
"My attourney never understood the concept that you could get a lot higher without drugs, than with them....but niether have I for that matter!"
I'm going to have to say, although breaks are nice every once in a while, smoking weed is just too much fun that I would be needlessly missing out on. But it's really just a matter for personal preference, we all know our limits.

Well, tripping, inside - being mostly limited to my appartment, with only a walk or two (but not long ones) due to crappy weather
vs
Tripping, outside, in the sun, on the beach, in nature.
This batch is so good that I dont want to waste the trip indoors wishing I was outdoors, and i want the outdoors to be nice enough that I can fully enjoy it and enjoy the beauty of spring once the flowers are out and leaves on the trees
As for the break from weed, noticing
- once I got over the 'having a hard time sleeping' - been getting better sleep - dreaming in my sleep, and remembering them - feel a bit more clear and alert during the day - have more energy ( in turn of getting better sleep ) - far less inclined to sit infront of my TV watching horrible TV, and actually starting to pick up some old hobbies. Not that weed made me quit them - could of worked on them while stoned, but weed just made it 'ok to be bored' and made bad TV tollerable
Not out-right quitting, I do rather enjoy it quite a bit, on the other hand - smoking it every day sort of killed the 'fun' in it for me, stoned became the new sober, and it was getting boring.
I am just very much the type of person who eventually gets bored of being stoned/high.
Just as now and then Mushrooms is a nice change from LSD, but not better (and LSD isnt better than mushrooms), some times rocking it out sober is a nice change also

nice report! I like to dance sober too, it's a high by itself But only if the music is really good. Otherwise I like to smoke some herb and drink a few beers
More people should try it; it's good to learn how to have fun when going out without any additives

Clever idea, and I can see people are showing appreciation for your effort, but you weren't tripping, so this isn't a trip report. It's more of a journal entry.
