Yeah i don't see why you need it like that anyway, to me it just looks like a mono tub setup only you are using a tub for its' top. How confusing, we have this similar-to-mono setup called double tub, then we have tub in tub; which to me should be called double tub. but whatever.

I am on my first MONO tub grow....and because I fucked up the holes, I had to make my sustrate very uneven. BUT, I am getting THE BEST pinset I have EVER seen. Im sticking to my monotub.

There is no advantage. I use the double tub setup because my tubs are pretty small (12qt). With this size tub, you need a second one for proper FAE. I tried going mono with a 12qt tub and I got some pathetic looking shrooms. I would guess that you would want a 48qt+ sized tub to do a mono tub setup for proper FAE.

For the record, Eatualive came up with the double tub first. Ohmatic soon discovered that a mono tub setup would also work. Both teks are archived here because they both work great, not to confuse you

What is confusing is, why do that if you don't have to? (ie. just use mono tub) And why have all these different methods with similar names?
I guess I am a believer in the k.i.s.s. theory, but to each his own.

I thought it would be a good idea because when I spawn my wbs to poo this container splits in half so then I can cover in plastic wrap it takes up half the space and the poly fil has the air exchange, a mono tub takes up a lot more room in the inccubator...

I didn't necessarily say "my" ways. Alot of it is just plain common sense. Like with a mono tub setup, I know of a way which involves no cutting the bin at all, which make it nice in a certain application. It is pretty easy for anyone to come up with it, if they just think about it for awhile.

Umm he forgot something on his item and price list... he listed quart jars, so that usually means needing a pressure cooker; and if you wanted to boil instead, you still would have to buy a large pot. He also forgot spores, is he assuming everyone is getting them for free?
None of this is listed at the time of this post. So this probably adds a good 50-200 dollars; depending on what you buy.
And he did cutting on the tubs. More time involved & less stealthy.
But hey it works! and if thats what works best for you, great !!

Well this is assuming your not new enough to not own a pressure cooker, that is shroom growers standard equipment there, that was one of the first things I ever bought...
Stealth grows are usually for youngins that dont want their "parents" to find out...
If you dont own a PC then i would put my effort into getting one of those and not on a FC..
My first FC was a styrofoam cooler it cost me 5 bucks to build it...

I realize that, but my purpose is two-fold. I don't want ANYONE (roommate) to find out and my main reason is I would like to use the bins in the future for other purposes without having holes in them. Could I just buy more? Sure, but again I stress efficient simple means.

What are quart jars and wbs doing on the list then? I would think mose seasoned growers would have that also, or at least know that price too.

It seems like you are saying that the DT tek should be deleted from the archives because you were confused between mono, double & tub in tubs setups or maybe because you feel that the mono setup works just the same as the DT, so what's the point?
Well, by definition archives are collections of records. I think it's good to have different variations of teks permanently recorded so that you can see how this hobby has been evolving over the years. IMO, this also helps members get different ideas for their own grows and to possibly inspire them to make further improvements themselves.
I don't feel any tek that has been archived here should be deleted. This is our own little history in this hobby, confusing or not.

What exactly are you trying to say here ChefMushroom? You are continually asking questions then appear to be badgering the people who answer your questions. If you don't like the double tub tek, don't use it. If you have a better way of doing things, step up to the plate and present your idea for all to see in a new thread.
Bottom line is that double tubs work. If they don't work for your situation, than don't use them. Good luck either way.

And I suppose you are the expert on exactly what is considered "far in life"?
Life is made up of how one perceives one's own experiences.... you obviously wish to perceive my posts in a negative manner. Actually alot of people do, but I've also found alot of people that don't either (not necessarily on this forum.)
Thats life, I choose to stand by my statements no matter what they are, if you don't; people and their philistine egos just run you over - which sometimes they do regardless. But at least I stayed true to myself.
Is this concept hypocritical? Being this way could be a form of egotism in itself. Who knows and I doubt anyone really cares.
