Song help!

I need some opinions and help finding songs for a project I have to do for a class.
I need to find songs that deal with the blurring of reality, or the differences in peoples realities.
I also need a song that deals with transformation, or growth of an individual or society.
Anything that you guys can think of will help.

Fourty six and two by Tool for a transformation song.

You could try and interpret "2 + 2 = 5" by Radiohead with it's 1984 refrences.
Are you such a dreamer To put the world to rights I'll stay home forever Where two and two always makes a five I'll lay down the tracks Sandbag and hide January has April showers And two and two always makes a five It's the devil's way now There is no way out You can scream and you can shout It is too late now Because you're not there Payin' attention Payin' attention Payin' attention Payin' attention yeah I feel it, I needed attention Payin' attention Payin' attention Payin' attention Yeah I need it, I needed attention I needed attention I needed attention I needed attention Yeah I love it, the attention Payin' attention Payin' attention Payin' attention Soon oh I try to sing along But the music's all wrong Cos I'm not Cos I'm not I'll swallow up flies? Back and hide But I'm not Oh hail to the thief Oh hail to the thief But I'm not But I'm not But I'm not But I'm not Don't question my authority or put me in the box Cos I'm not Cos I'm not Oh go up to the king, and the sky is falling in But it's not But it's not Maybe not Maybe not

Come gather round people wherever you roam And admit that the waters around you have grown And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone If your time to you is worth saving Then you'd better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone For the times, they are a changing
Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pens And keep your eyes open, the chance won't come again And don't speak too soon, the wheel's still in spin And there's no telling who that it's naming Oh the loser will be later to win For the times, they are a changing
Come senators, congressmen, please head the call Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt will be her that has stalled The battle outside ragging will soon shake your windows And rattle your hall For the times, they are a changing
Come mothers and fathers all over this land And don't criticize what you can't understand Your sons and your daughter are beyond your command Your old role is rapidly aging Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand For the times they are a changing
The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast The slow one will later be fast And the present now will soon be the past The order is rapidly fading The first one now will later be last For the times, they are a changing

Tool's lyrics are heavy with themes of personal transformation. Especially Lateralus etc.

Yep. Especially the song Lateralus.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy. red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. lets me see. As below, so above and beyond, I imagine drawn beyond the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy. red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. lets me see there is so much more and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities. As below, so above and beyond, I imagine drawn outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.
Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line. Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.
I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human.
With my feet upon the ground I lose myself between the sounds and open wide to suck it in, I feel it move across my skin. I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me. And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been. We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going, going...

I'm sure you can relate John Lennon - Imagine to your project.

How about The Moody Blues song Nights In White Satin? The lyrics relate to your issues in some ways.
Quote:
"Beauty I'd always missed With these eyes before, Just what the truth is I can't say anymore."
"Gazing at people, some hand in hand Just what I'm going through they can't understand"
(blurring of reality, transformation)

Rehab - More Like You
"An excess rules everything I do So tell me how can I be more like you Cause all of this don't seem to bother you So tell me how can I be more like you
The lights are on but nobody's home If I'm mad, well them my mouth foam Cover my transportation in chrome Under the sky dome Pegasus flown over my skeletal features But an opaque anatomy is all I'll ever be For none to see
A numb teacher holding a counseling position Posture remaining unchristian Slouchin' down so low I'm missing Caverns and taverns is where I sought my refuge Stood in the foyer of the brothel meshing with sin Grippin' a bottle How many times I sat up in the night sky Craving to die, wanting to fly Knowing this was all a lie The succubus French kissed me in the orafice Complex as Oedipus left in my mouth a taste of distrust Lust for flesh & bone, but ain't no angels in dust Ain't no heroines in opium, word up I scoped 'em There ain't no answers this is all random evolution Best check the chemicals in your solution You might be prostitutin'
An excess rules everything I do So tell me how can I be more like you Cause all of this don't seem to bother you So tell me how can I be more like you
Why is everything so technical, got me thinkin' mechanical Puffi' on those botanicals, every second so critical Board with the human language Anguish, beats on my mental, f**kin' with chemicals Sick as the appetites of cannibals Far away they shoot a laser from a computer It ricochets off a satellite panel To a missile silo in Cuba Eyes behold catastrophe Forseen by Nostradamus, the prophets peep the millennium Age of the broken promise More religions than park pigeons The poor envy the rich and Monetary decisions make pessimistic the vision It's like the whole planet went off the deep end While I was sleepin' Men be leapin off ledges, when there women leave for the weekend The human mind's an asylum, dialin' help lines repeatedly Pushin' garbage down and putting more in so greedily In the head of irate Babylonians Everything is what it is, even when it's not
An excess rules everything I do So tell me how can I be more like you Cause all of this don't seem to bother you So tell me how can I be more like you"

If I hear any others I think might be useful I'll post them.

Here are the lyrics to twisted...
My analyst told me That I was right out of my head The way he described it He said I?d be better dead than live I didn?t listen to his jive I knew all along That he was all wrong And I knew that he thought I was crazy but I?m not Oh no
My analyst told me That I was right out of my head He said I?d need treatment But I?m not that easily led He said I was the type That was most inclined When out of his sight To be out of my mind And he thought I was nuts No more ifs or ands or buts
They say as a child I appeared a little bit wild With all my crazy ideas But I knew what was happening I knew I was a genius... What?s so strange when you know That you?re a wizard at three I knew that this was meant to be
Now I heard little children Were supposed to sleep tight That?s why I got into the vodka one night My parents got frantic Didn?t know what to do But I saw some crazy scenes Before I came to Now do you think I was crazy I may have been only three But I was swinging
They all laugh at angry young men They all laugh at edison And also at einstein So why should I feel sorry If they just couldn?t understand The idiomatic logic That went on in my head I had a brain It was insane Oh they used to laugh at me When I refused to ride On all those double decker buses All because there was no driver on the top
My analyst told me That I was right out of my head But I said dear doctor I think that it?s you instead Because I have got a thing That?s unique and new To prove it I?ll have The last laugh on you ?cause instead of one head I got two And you know two heads are better than one.

How about any one of the "big four"?
The Doors - The End Pink Floyd - Echoes Jimi Hendrix - 1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be) Grateful Dead - Dark Star
All of these are chock full of symbolism and generally deal with transformation in some respect. Epic.
