Psychotria Viridis
    #5440250 - 03/25/06 03:02 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Ok so ive made several attempts at growing this plant from seed. using seeds ive acquired from both BouncinBearBotanicals and shaman palace. and i just cant seem to get the buggers to germinate. ive gon up to 3 months waiting on each batch ive tried to germ. ive tried papertowel, oasis cube, moist soil, and rockwool as germination mediums. im a skilled gardener and for some dam reason i canot grow this and its making me feel pathetic. id gladly buy a live one but all the sponosors are out of stock aswell as BBB. im despirate id realy love to grow this plant so i am asking amung the world of the shroomery. Can anyone send me a clone of this plant or Psychotria Carthagenensis im fully willing to pay for the shipping or swap from some seeds of my collection. well if anyone can help me out id apreciate it.

Sorry I have no cuttings.

But how long have you been giving the seeds to germinate before giving up?They can take anywhere between 2 to 12 weeks to germ.

Have you tried soaking in h202?Or Gibberelic acid?

I have read that people get better germ rates when they dont soak in bleach.Just pastuerize your growing medium well.

Dont give up man.And good luck finding a cutting or clone!I am currently trying to germinate some viridis seeds using a gibbereleic acid soak. This is my second attemt the first just plain water soak and it failed.

Cheers

Forget the seeds, what you need is several (or just one, as AFOAF have had 100% success rate) of the leaves. just make sure the stem of leaf is in tact, make a few nicks in the stem, about half the thickness of the stem, dip in rooting powder (shake off excess), stick leaf halfway into soil (AFOAF prefer thunderhead!! It Rocks!!!) water and give it six weeks. the leaf may look like it is dying, no need for concern unless the dead part goes beneath the soil. all of mine die right up to the soil line. the average leaf takes about eight weeks for the sprout to show. AFOAF noticed the thunderhead soil plants sprounted before the miracle grow ones. Any Questions PM me. keep soil moist but not soaked.
