Best type of water for PF cakes?

Hey guys, I'm new and planning to start up some PF cakes. I wanted to know which type of water is best for the mix that goes inside the jars. One of the teks I read suggests mineral water, is this the type that is carbonated and all? I'm guessing you're supposed to boil it to get the carbonation out and sterilize. Anyway, I've searched and didn't find any solid decision, so what do you guys think?

Tap could be fine but mine sucks...
I use mineral/spring water and I think I heard about 'pond' water.
But whatever could be in the water is taking care of when you sterilize the jars, so no need to do it twice.

I use distilled as the minute amount of nutes in mineral water will have little effect on yield IME's. LNS would be a better choice IMHO ask agar he may still have some available (a little goes a long way!) but then again most likely he ran out long ago

When I did cakes, I did a couple with water from a canal and the rest with bottled spring water. The canal water cakes blew away the others. There's lots of organic matter in natural water sources and mushrooms like that.

I go to the international deli and get the most expensive water they have. The kind with that Italian label on it. Then I drink it while I use tap water for my mushies.

HAHAHA!
Geez man, you should treat your shroomies better than to give them tap water... I at least use spring water. Ya know, the ones that are like $2 for 3gal... I usually just end up using a little bit for my shrooms and drinking the rest myself.

I don't have any from the left from original batch I made years back.
But, have the formula & means to make much more.
LNS is made of is an optimal compost tea. Which is refined & concentrated to a very high degree. Then fortified with a mix proprietary macro/micro & trace elements.
Only difficultly with it is. It is VERY STRONG. So, you have to follow the dilution instructions closely. Otherwise, it's strength will burn mycelium, in any substrate.
For hydration purposes, 5 drops to a QUART of water is recommended. Which, is about the equivalent of adding a quart of optimal compost nutrients, to a substrate.
With LNS, MORE is NOT BETTER.

Wow, thanks for such fast replies! I'll probably go 50/50 spring(bottled) and mineral water, to go ahead and find my own results. By this I mean half of the jars with spring water and half with mineral water. Wish me luck and thanks again!
PS If everything goes well I will probably post results, as I have something to weigh with and keeping track shouldn't be too hard.

Some peoples tap is actually harmful to growth. Tap can be very high in not only chlorine but in sulfides as well. Most every municiple water souce would of course be fine but if you have well water then you already know if you'd drink it or not. I personally have lived where the tap water was so bad I would even think about taking a bath or shower in it! Like I said I use distilled out of habit one place you don't want to use water high in minerals is your casing if at all possible.

Should help when steaming jars but unnecessary when PCing jars. FYI

Agar kind of explained what the LNS is composed of, but what does LNS stand for? Also, what nutrients does it contain? I'm thinking nitrogen, because of the "burning" being described.

Liquid Nutrient Solution. Think of it as liquid concentrated poo and you'll understand what it's nutrients are. And yes very high in N.
