do you have any graphic editor programs on your computer? Photoshop, or something like that?

if not, do a google search for 'image resize' and either use one online or download the program...

you could also try uploading it as a file, rather than a picture. sometimes attachement limits are bigger.

how big is it exactly? memory, dimensions...

for photos and images with many colors (thousands+) save as JPEG, and make sure you dont save it as 100% quality, there should be a setting, reduce to 80 or 60.

for graphics with hundreds of colors, use GIF.

PNG beats the hell out of GIF

I hate GIF, apart from when it comes to small animations. There was a PNG based animation standard, but it was never supported widely enough to be useful.

amen! but until IE truly supports png (they claim to in IE7) its still not a great option.

Does IE6 claim to not support PNG?

The test images at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNG all work fine for me in IE6.

the key word being "truly"

while IE supports PNG-8, it does not support PNG24 images, or png with an alpha channel (while firefox does). Also, the way in which IE handles the PNG information (memory wise) is disgusting. Im a techie, so its my domain.
