anyone know of any dangers of mixing an MAOI such as syrian rue extract, with a rather weak SSRI such as lexapro 10 mg tablets. Been on them for a month now. Plannin on tripping this weekend while on a strict maoi compatible diet.. Dangerous?

sadly that particular combination is WAY BAD for you. its a real pita that some people on meds cant enjoy some things. now of course you could endulge in an MAOI IF AND ONLY IF you are capable of comming off your pills for a total of atleast 20 days without sacraficing your sanity for it. 10 days to flush your system and return to normal and 10 days to allow the maoi to completly flush from your system. most recomendations say 14 days but honestly the 4 day short stil puts you in a safe zone and cuts 8 days off the amount of time youll be without meds. IF you are NOT 100% certin that you can survive without psychie issues DO NOT do it. theres plenty of other trippy substance that wont require you to make such a sacrafice.

There is a "trip" report about this on Erowid. It was using Celexa and rue but not Lexapro. Lexapro is similar to Celexa. He obviously lived. Rue is a short-lived MAOI. I wouldn't take Lexapro with any other MAOI if I were you though. Mainly because they last far to long or target more stimulating neurotransmitters(adrenaline). Contrary to popular belief; MAOI's can be used safely.
