The Krazy People are Everywhere These Days

So for 37 years of my life, when ever people were seen out in public, talking out loud and having conversations with NOBODY there, carrying on as if everyone else could see and hear who they were talking with, we naturally figured they must be loco in the cabana.
NOW, every public place I go to people are talking out loud to no one there.
I don't know when I will get use to this. A while back I rounded an isle in the grocery store and this lady there goes, "I don't know what I want with dinner tonight. Should I go with the asparagus or a salad?" I said to her, "Asparagus! " She turned over and looked at me like I was crazy for answering her. When she turned, I saw her tiny ear piece.
Like this guy in front of me in line to pay for my oil change was ranting about hating waiting in lines and all the errands he had to run. I'm seeing he is by himself and can't figure out who is talking to. I'm thinking, "Oh man, he must be really stressed out to be venting out loud here like this. I hope he doesn't go postal on the rest of us. " When he turned to leave, I saw his tiny ear piece.
Does this freak anyone else out, to see so many people these days, talking out loud, hands free to no one there? It's just not normal.
Someday, it will be normal for my grandkids to experience and I'll be the one saying, "Eeeeh, back in my day sonny, when people did that, we thought they had some screws loose and threw them some spare change."

One of these days there wont even be an ear piece. There will be a telepathy chip in our brains and we will all speak to eachother by simply thinking, we wont even have to use our voice box.

That would be pretty sweet, but obviously at the same time would open the door for major privacy violations, so all in all, not a good idea probably.

That would be cool, quiet and private. At least people won't be talking out loud in public to what appears to be just themselves.
The handless phone tech out now is the size of a dime. I'm tired of not knowing if people are crazy, talking to me or using tiny tech. I catch myself talking back to them, or snooping around them looking for the ear piece first, and then I look like the krazy one.
I swear people who use them should be forced to wear a light bulb mounted to the top of their heads that flashes when their phone is in use, to let the rest of us know, they arn't nuts and they aren't talking to us either.
Am I the only one not comfortable with this? Some woman yesterday was in the children's clothing department bitching out loud about how she always buys for her sisters kids birthdays and the never by for hers. I naturally thought she was talking to me since I was the only other one around. To be friendly, I almost said something and then remembered to look for that ear piece first. Of course she caught me doing that and looked at me like I was the weirdo, though she was the one ranting out loud about her sister, to no one there.

I think hands free talking in public is dumb because people will deliberatly try to hear what your talking about to see who your talking to.
Like if i see somebody on a cell phone i dont pay any attention, but if they are standing in line at wal mart talking to thin air im like who the fuck is this jerk talking to and pay extra attention to what hes saying

I suppose it depends on where you live at this point to what extent you'll experience it. I came across 20 of them in my last round of errand running today. They are all over he place here by me.
Of course some people talk to themselves, quietly in their heads when in public or, if out loud, usually at home or in private and you they know they are just talking out their own thoughts. Thats different then people who seem to be talking out loud to actual other people who are talking to them also and they carry on as if everyone else hears and sees them too.
Have you ever seen someone, talking out loud, having what appears to be conversations with sometimes multiple people there, before handless phone tech?
I use to see them in the cities and islands and it was freaky/amusing.
Once I was in a food court at the mall, and this woman by herself was carrying on looking at like what would be 5 people, saying sweetly stuff like, "George, I really like your hair that way. Then she would turn her head and get angry and yell,"You shut up Frank! I'm not speaking to you anymore." Then she would mellow out and look up elsewhere and say, "Anna, I'm sorry, I know he is your friend but he hasn't been nice to me." I watched this go on for like 15 minutes.
I've seen people alone walking the streets screaming for people to get away from them and leave them alone when no one is anywhere near them. I've seen more then my share of the real thing and handless phone users look the same.
It's not about harmless schizos talking out loud to others we can;t see. They are cool by me.
Not being able to easily see that someone is on a cell phone, you have to wonder, are they talking to me?, are they "okay"?, am I suppose to respond? Do they have a thingy in their ear? If not putting you through that guessing game, they talk so freaking loud about personal stuff in your space, but not talking to you, just feels even rude sometimes.
Something new in the modern age to get use to. Was just wondering if anyone else saw it weird.

Thank you for relating psychoslut!
Bob, I'm not a phone person either. I don't even have a cell phone because I don't want one. I can't stand ringing phones. Mine rings all day with tele marketers and when hubbies in the home office his cell doesn't stop ringing.
Phones = Noise pollution and invasion of ones peace and privacy.
The net rocks. You can have convos with dozens of people when you feel like chatting and in TOTAL peace and quiet all the while.

It really peeves me when you are riding in a car with someone, and in the middle of a conversation, their phone rings, and you have to sit there silently while they talk to someone else.

I hear ya wiz!
Only now, we are going from the krazy appearing tiny phone tech people to just rude and awkward social phone behavior. Like you said, they turn down the tunes and then blab away leaving you to listen to only half a conversation (which is annoying) and you can't partcipate in it either to keep yourself entertained, which is lame.
I suppose that's what IPods with head phones are for.

Wow. I had this happen to me today, in a public bathroom no less. I'm standing there taking a leak, and this guy walks in talking quite loudly to himself. He's going on about some business meeting, so i realize he's talking to someone else with an earpiece. But the dude is just standing there at the next urinal talking so loud to himself. And it was just me and him in this bathroom. Talk about WEIRD. That shit is obnoxious.

Hehehe, it would be even more weird if they had implants in their heads, in midst of your conversation or sitting there in train, suddenly looking somewhere else, starring apathetic into nothingness Or coming into a room, where people stare to all directions, some standing still, some walking up and down, getting irritated if you try to talk to them. Modern phone boxes or mental hospitals ? hehe The idea of a flashlight on their heads is gorgeous !
