Having a little fun with christianity

I'm trying hard not to break pub rules with this. I have no comment about this link except to say that it gave me a smile. I recommend you have a look.

I always keep those things when they get handed out to me on the subway or on the street...they crack me up. There's one about Dungeons and Dragons that's fucking hilarious.

Yes, you're not full of ignorant stereotypes. Not in the least.

You do realize you're making generalizations about a group of people you have a less-than-total understanding of, don't you? Christians aren't all as stupid as the one who wrote that tract... no more than black people are all criminals or moochers (which of course they aren't). But opposing religions are easier to hate. There are people to support you when you openly generalize them... so you think it's okay to be prejudiced for some reason.

Try and think before saying something stupid and hate-filled.

Actually its totally sane to make fun of religious people. They are completely insane, and refuse rationality and logic. Why do you think I have to somehow be kind to their beliefs? If you go spouting clearly bullshit statements to me, and claim to know truths which you CANT know, then I feel I have the right to label you insane and a fool.

The problem is people who label ME a fool usually use some OTHER person as an example. The other person is usually a convenient dumbass that gives everyone an excuse to go "OMG LOL his entire religion sucks!" in response to what is in actuality just the acts of a lone dumbass.

People try to hard to find excuses for their pre-existing prejudices. The hatred isn't there because of the idiocy, the idiocy is just a covenient excuse to justify the pre-existing hatred.

Forgive me if I'm disinclined to take someone seriously when they think a few people constitute evidence that debunks an entire religion. I'll remind you that by doing so you're making judgements that include me personally, someone whose beleifs you don't understand, and yet claim to know are false. Don't be ignorant, recognize your own prejudices.

I mean come on man this is the 21st century, do we really need to keep dragging these silly beliefs along with us? We now have the technology to be like, wait those bright lights in the sky arent just gods staring at us, why those things are stars! Lets move on from this ridiculousness, I mean 'jesus'.

Konnrade, if you're not a fool, why worry? Everyone is gonna think something about you no matter, be it race, religion, or look, you're gonna be prejudged by people. As long as your cool, there's nothing to worry about.

I've got better pics on my pc. I had a vid of marines shooting the shit out of a bus carrying soldiers and then the side door opens up and some of them run out on fire. This was during the invasion.

I even got beheadings of Iraqi police, you can hear this gurgling? sound, meh, sick.

Even when it conflicts with Quantum Mechanics? For someone who claims to be so informed and logical, you seem to be somewhat close-minded when it comes to this. Reality is so much more than what our eyes see and our ears hear. Humans aren't even close to discovering what reality is, and we will probably never know. There's a lot more to our universe than what brain interprets. An uncountable number of dimensions warped into whatever way it flows creating the backbone of our existence, the idea of sentience is so fucked up to begin with, who's to say there's something or nothing else?

Yea whose to say theres nothing else..Im not saying that. Hey maybe some giraffe at the local zoo is god, and he created everything, but so what? You can go on forever, its pointless and silly. Science came along and decided to maybe find out concrete things. Yes quantum is very strange, we are just looking for a link. Relativity is pretty darn good at giving us solid answers to questions. Dont take science so lightly, or please throw your computer out the window.

I never said I took science lightly. I'm just saying that all science has is a small ass piece of a much larger picture. And if it was to put together, how are you so so sure who the fool would be?

I'm openly addressing everyone with this statement:

While you may think that your own beleifs have somehow managed to rise above the level of human ability and be perfect, that nonetheless does not qualify you to demean or belittle your fellow man, even if they beleive something far different from what you do. I assure you, nobody ever did you any harm in following their beleifs. There may be dumbasses who hide behind a religion when they do harm, but we all resent them as much as you do. Please, don't be a bigot. It is never excusable to be judgemental of another religion. Especially if the primary reason is just because you dislike it. And I assure you, most arguments against religion stem from personal grudges rather than any constructive desires.

How about showing some respect for your equals? I'm certain you're capable of that.

No offense but Christians and most religious people are really jaded, and blind to the nature of things, and what is really going on, in the spirit world.
Which is why I embrace almost ALL religions, as well as my own personal religion, that I have formulated from my own 'supernatural' experiences.

Einstein, most seemingly was a light autistic, an asperger.
He was obsessed with the constant of the speed of light so he invented some tricks to make the speed constant. This tricks were to make time and space relative. Not a real big job, as it hides the fact, if you leave time and space constant, there IS speed higher than the speed of light: For an extreme example, take the one end and the other end of our universe. They drift apart with a much higher speed, than light.
Since Einstein, all seems relative, it only is important what you will see as absolute and then all the other things will bend to that, no matter what.

but WHY?!!?!?!?!? someone needs to fucking explain that to me, because so far, it seems like believing in something that could have easily been pulled straight from someones ass thousands of years ago with no real evidence supporting it....wtf?

i don't get it. there is proof that the earth is older than 5,000 years. there is proof that the bible is full of complete bullshit. there is proof of evolution. shit, look at the sentilese tribe, they've been inhabiting an island(islands?) in the indian sea for over 30,000 YEARS.

someone explain this. i know im ignorant and don't really know much about christianity let alone any other religion, but come on....

we have 98% of the same DNA as chimpanzees. chimps are more similar to humans than they are to monkeys. how's that for evidence?

yikes... ok, i AM a christian, but i can find a good laugh in most things.  including the tract posted here.  i just dont understand why everyone feels the need to attack christianity.  yes, christianity is flawed.  yes, the bible has been changed over thousands of years.  but the bible is still a book of wisdom.  have you ever tried reading the book in a non-religous context?  try it sometime.  you might find something you actually agree with, and holy shit, you MIGHT learn something.

personally, i feel that if you think we're the only beings here and that there is no higher power, thats pretty arrogant.  im not going to attack anyones beliefs, because everyone has their reasons for what they believe.  call me an idiot, a fool, whatever.  here's my point:  if I'm wrong, when I die, i just die like everyone else.  if im right, i go to heaven.  win-win.

and trusting science is nothing more than taking someone else's word for it on FAITH.  have you ever performed all those experiments or come up with the formulas yourself?  if you have, good for you, take your scientific proof and believe in it.  if not, your going to have to face the fact that you have faith too, only your faith is in what someone else told you.  i prefer to try to get closer to god to try to understand more through my own experiences.  but i could go on all day... cant we all just get along?

most everyone makes good points, i just couldnt leave konnrad by himself.  :stoned:

It's a bit of an existential straw man to pull the "omg, we can't trust anyone, nothing can be believed, it isn't really real".

Religion was the answer to most/all questions for man before he developed science. Now science answers most of the questions. I think many religious leaders tend to resent this. And instead of focusing on the core of what religion should be about, compassion and tolerance, we get churches telling their followers how to vote. We get religions lobbying against science. We get "Intelligent Design".

Hopefully in the next few hundred years it will sort itself out and religion will become a private thing for people so inclined and not a crusade against the non-believers.

/agree, but why stop there, every religion out there is under a delusion that all powerful being(s) watch over us.

The one thing that bothers me the most isn't their belief in a fancy version of santa clause, but the fact they are so against any real discussions about beliefs IF it challenges their own.

So its easier to grow up believing what you were taught as a child to believe, and never question it.

People believe in god and going to heaven and living eternity in happiness on the other side because it sucks to think that when you die thats it lights out nothing else is gonna happen. Without religion life isnt even worth living. Im not a die hard bible thumper or anything but id like to believe theres more to the story than just dieing.

thats how i practice my beliefs.  i dont attend church regularly, i dont try to force this on other people, and im not neccesarily defending the church either.  im only interested in my human right to have my own beliefs.

religion isn't even the word i would use.  i dont need some ranking system of people telling me what i already know about the bible over and over.  id rather find my own path to god.

true, some churches are all about the money and theres a lot of corruption.  but that doesnt mean that the whole premise of a god is wrong.

i wasnt saying we cant trust anyone, i was just making a point that scientists are humans that practice science, just like the humans who practice "religion".  people make mistakes.  how many times has modern science proven that science just 100 years ago was wrong?  where do you think we will be in another 100 years?  the world used to be flat and at the center of the universe, remember?

and science can't disprove god.  at least they haven't yet.  i cant imagine not believing theres something else out there that we just wont ever be able to define.  thats pretty depressing to me.  my beliefs give my life meaning, and it doesnt hurt you at all.

so no hard feelings, just dont attack me for what i believe.  and i promise if science DOES ever disprove god, you can slap the shit out me and call me an idiot all you want.  but theres no need to talk shit about someone else's beliefs.  if we all believed the same things, life would be pretty fucking boring, wouldn't it?  :yesnod:

It doesnt matter if jesus god and heaven and hell is real. What matters is that the bible is a good solid foundation for what humanity should be. Even if there is no god and jesus was just a really awesome guy that new how life should be lived and has a perfect idea of how people should behave towards eachother, doesnt that deserve worship itself?

There are people to support you when you openly generalize them... so you think it's okay to be prejudiced for some reason.

Try and think before saying something stupid and hate-filled.

very very rarely. and that's a fact. you're the one who's missing the point. by your logic, it's pointless to read books, it's pointless to go on the internet, pointless to listen to whatever anyone else says, because they COULD be wrong.

you're trying to make a comparison that doesn't work.

hell, how do we even know what we see with our own eyes is real? for all we know everything could ''dissappear'' whenever someone isn't looking. take a philosophy class.

have you ever heard of the ''scientific method?''

So the answer is yes, you skipped over Leviticus.

21:5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

25:44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, [shall be] of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.

25:45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that [are] with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.

Oh and don't forget Exodus, that bastion of tolerance and sanity.

35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.

Have you even read the bible you purport to be so important?

The bible is a book of anachronistic fairy tales reflecting the close-minded absolute moralities of an ignorant past. About the only thing of value are most of Christ's teachings. Which incidentally go largely ignored by a lot of religious people in favor of the parts that let them support their intolerance and bigotry.

Pretty much, yeah. Religion is largely about discouraging thinking for oneself. Otherwise how else do you get people to grant you power and money based on some story about invisible sky gods who might get angry if you don't comply?

I used to participate in these debates, until I realized that the outcome was always the same. Nobody wins and I end up irritated.

non religious and religious people cant agree, and they never will.

why even try

The scientific method encourages scientific beliefs to be proven false. The majority of religions are almost exactly the opposite.

Wasn't the church the primary agent opposing the idea that the earth was spherical?

There is no culture more hypocritical, insidious, ignorant, hateful, intollerant, proud, certain, egocentric, false, misguided, or threatening than that of the fundamentalist.

No, in no way do they represent all members of the religion from which they derive their distorted sense of purpose, however, they have made it clear that their battle is to force all to abide by their bogus "moral" doctrine, and this is nothing less than a declaration of war on the free-thinking people of the world.

Fuck 'em.

I dislike fundamentalists as much as the next man. I especially dislike christian fundamentalists, they make my life a lot harder... and they make ME look bad.

Forget about all extremists. That includes extreme materialism, which tries to fade out any existence of 'real' spirituality.
I strongly believe that our left brain hemisphere plays a huge role in every extremism, even religious ones. It loves its dominance, it loves its rules and order, it loves its nutshell

Ok, retard. The shroomery is our escape from the place that humans believe to be the real world, does that make you feel better?
