Hi! Well, you probably think after reading this title: "this guy took a truckload of shroomies, got in an in-trip argument & went berserk..." Well: not quite...

Me & this guy were good friends for years, and I mean: GOOD friends!!! We did all our Trips together, mostly on shrooms & 29 in a row, and before that we were the backbone of "The Brotherhood o/t Broad Rollingpaper": we'd like come together EVERY evening from 19:30-22:00 or so & have a monster of a good time with good conversations & about 1/5 of a gramme of Ganja each.
Them years constituted one of my very best of friendships to this date.

So when the Majors came along, and him being flat broke most of the time, it was only natural I'd loan him the money he needed for his side of our experiments, amounting about to a total of $250.
Wouldn't anyone do this to help out a really great friend?

We did a lot of triptalkin', had tremendous insights & even got rid of some emotional garbage from the past. It was so great to embark with this good friend on a quest for the meaning of Life & the Universe, and mostly it was great fun too.

But then, one night, he had this HUGE mental explosion, which I can only identify as a sort of flashback cosidering how he described it. But he, being horny for Miracles, thought that GOD HIMSELF had slipped him a notice.
If he had called, I'd immediatly would've been there for him, even if I had to run naked aross town to get to him, for this was one of the vows we made to eachother: To REALLY BE THERE for eachother in times of need.
Well: he didn't...

Days later I got a Postcard depicting an angrylooking man screaming: I QUIT !!!
Well: went to him, ofcourse... We had this talk and he told me God has called him and that he'll never touch anything Psychotropic ever again. Fine by me...
"I'll take those 38 microdots of LSD you held in keeping with me then" I reasonably suggested since I'd paid for them and he had promised to return them if he had no use for them. So I inquired about the total sum of $ 250 I had loaned him, making his Psychedelic years possible.
"I won't pay for something I don't want in my life!" he exlaimed angryly.
Later I called him to check up on him & about those microdots. It became an argument. "Return my dots that you no longer need as you promised!" I argued, "Or I'll cease to be your friend 'cause this's really uncool!"
He thought about it. One, two seconds at most.
"Well: our friendship's over then." he calmly said; I hung up thunderstricken.

Two years later I slipped him a birthday card inquiring how his life was going. I found out he'd joined the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints and became a Mormon.
We wrote back & forth for a time, two odd Americans came to my house to talk about their views on Jesus & to give me the Book of Mormon. I accepted & read most of it, being curious what he now believed & being religious (Wiccan) myself. After some writing we decided to meet @ myplace.

He wore these really neat clothes while he in his tripping years, well: didn't. I thought: hmm.. that's an improvement. Has he bettered himself?
We talked & talked...
I disovered my friend of old wasn't there anymore: he was like this talking Book of Mormon, everything completely conformistic & his very identity erased to the point of being practically identical to those two American oddballs he had sent to me.
No I don't have a bone to pick with Christianity. If you think you're better off by swapping LSD for LDS then by all means: Go Ahead !!!

But then I brought the subject of those microdots up. His reply: "I don't have 'em any more. I gave them away but now I regret that since Psychedelics and all they evoke in you is nothing short of Pure Evil & the Devil's Work." Then came this lecture that even now makes me sick to my stomach. Everytime one of us said words like "Jesus, Heaven, God, Mormon" he'd get this fleeting expression on his face that looked he was getting some head right then & there.
My friend wasn't there: What was left of him was only what LDS allowed.

Then I said: "Taking those dots & my money kinda strikes me as theft, howbout that one?" He should have seen it coming. If he'd had any sense he would've noticed the Cheyenne Mountain of my indignation had all closed up & I've shot to DEFCON 2 all at once. If he weren't so stoned on LDS he'd surely notice all my bases were on full alert, I had flushed anything Stealth, Air Force One was up in the stratosphere and that all my silos were open & everything Nuclear was armed and set on highest yield selection. He really should've noticed all my submarines were closing in on him. My face being as red as a Habanero pepper & equally hot should've given that one away...
But he didn't notice, or maybe even didn't care.

He said: "The Lord Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I'm a Mormon priest now. If I had ever done anything wrong: My Lord has washed away all of my sins & I'm clean as a fish in the eyes of the Lord. You can't blame me for anything as I stand clean before God."
Right then & there this laid-back Hippie type I am just yearned for his blood to be all over me. I wanted to gauge his eyes out & eat for a snack. I was ready to tear his throat out with my bare teeth and use him for a trampoline.
But I didn't.
Instead I caustically replied: "Well I've got news for you then: Jesus is not some slut you can abuse whenever an excuse is needed....."
Well: he got pretty angry in a very Christian sort of way!
"You're bound for Hell with that tripping of yours and you'll burn for all eternity for being a homo !!!"
Nice to know sensitive things said during the perils of a difficult trip can be hurled at you like a handgranade when one's cross with you.
Needless to say he was out the door without even touching the ground.

A few days later I got a letter. It didn't hold any personal content, it was simply 4 sheets of quotes throwing everything hateful the Bible & the book of Moron could be interpreted to be saying about homosexuality.
I actually felt relieved! Our coming apart had been a gaping wound in my soul, and now he had managed to sear it shut.
I'll never miss him again.


Well: that's the story! Did you have friendships with Trip people gone sour on you? A remark perhaps or any comment? PLEASE POST IT !!!

I have a cousin who's parents got divorced when I was young and his mom was mormon, and his dad (my very cool uncle) was lutheran. Well over the years his mom turned him onto the LDS. Well eventually she taught him to hate everyting about his dad, who would do anything in the world for him, and now he is in Brazil on a mission. When he writes me letters he address them "Brother Matthew". I swear that the mormon religion is the most successful cult ever. Everytime my cousin tells me about what he is doing in Brazil, or informs me of the way of his church I can not help but stare at him with a blank look on my face. I look at him and wonder how he does not notice the similarities between LDS and a cult. Sorry if this offends anyone, but that is just what the mormon religion most closely resembles in my mind. On a side note i lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for 9 years of my life, so it is not like I am making an unresearched observation.

Firstly to "pharmacopeia": if you don't like me playing with words than go be a good sheep and GO FLOCK YOURSELF!
Stupidity about "retarded shit" & fruity whatever I'll not even go into. It just shows you've alot of conciousness-expansion to do that's highly overdue...

About the amount of Grass: I was just pointing out the THC was merely a catalyst, not the main event! If you just take 1 and nobody feels like upping it, that's generally a good sign when moods are good.

Guys & Gals: I wasn't going for the sympathy vote! Major messages were that no matter how good a friendship, it can completely reverse on you in a heartbeat and, worse still: I think good ole Psilocybin & such were the culprits here.....

Now let me adress LDS & religion in general. Please realize I wasn't bashing LDS or Christianity in general: I truely believe all Gods are faces of the One. But I'm really annoyed by how many followers by their very actions drag their Highest One through the mud. Religion is a great good, but it's also a fact that most murders in known human history were committed in the name of some God.
I think the very best of religions is a personal one. One that prevents power-games by the very avoidance of the authority of the few over the many.
Mushrooms can, besides dazzle & daze you with their sheer brilliance, bring you into intimate contact with your Inner Self and the Divine.
This without doubt is their greatest virtue.

But further on the topic!
Did your wife drive out of your marriage in your pickup truck loaded to near collapse with what once was your stash?
Did you yourself (no Urban Legends please!) witness or have a mindfuck like that?

A little hell bent on them microdots now aren't we?  I've lost a good sum of money through LSD to friends that have turned....People who refused to do drugs ever again and then told me they werent going to pay me for the $300 worth of liquid I had fronted them......I was a bit upset at the loss, but its just money....my own stupidity for fronting it....should've at least taken a down payment :wink:........Either way you weren't any better for freaking out on your cult friend.....just my own opinion.............But not like its anything horrible to freak out on mormons......I do it all the time its fun.........And no its not right, but I admit it and all is good..

Reading my stuff, as it's generally lenghty, probably took you some minutes, as it would anyone without a photographic memory.

Supposing you're not the type to not think & just post, you posting twice implies you've approximately spent 2x5 minutes pondering & writing those.
If I read you right, in your first one you suggested my writing resembles that of a mentally challanged individual, while making clear you look down on those people & added to that some homophobia, perhaps fueled by an inner conflict, which always has a negative ring to it.
In your second one you decided to abandon the homophobia, but commented that the very lenght & content of my posting inspired nothing in you but ridicule.

Well, let me adress that properly.
In neither of those replies you even touched on the subject the posting was about. The only real content of those replies was that you look down on f#ggots, that you look down on mentally handicapped people & considered me to be one of them and that your my post inspired yet another form of loathing: ridicule.

Considering the time that's passed between your replies one can safely assume my post held you spellbound for a whole day in a negative sense. This is highly meaningful.

Did that one post you read make you feel SO BAD or do you just like to argue, insult folks & call them bad names? In both cases there's obviously alot of negativity in your life: hope your next Trip makes you transcend that and I mean it in the best possible way. No I wasn't looking down on faggots, or mentally challenged, they were just my blunt way of expressing my opinions about your pointless jabber. Chalk it up to having to deal with annoyances quite regularly, not "inner conflict".

So: It's being annoyed, then? Although you found my post to be sheer bullshit, I know for a fact there are people out there who LIKE reading this sort of stuff and for those who don't there's allways the "back"-button.

Kremlin: I'm afraid it'll be resolved in a Next Life. Alot of damage was done until about 3months after the call: I recieved pretty hostile letters & the friendship before was closer to Love than any non-Psychedelic one I can think of (no: we didn't play "hide-the-sausage" or anything like that!! Just REAL good friends...)
I often find & hear that much "Tripping" friendships are much more closer than lotsa non-trip ones. Have that too, anyone?

Not trying to be an ass WS but I think that your friend was only using you for drugs. I also think you were probably in love with him, otherwise you wouldn't have been so foolish to let him hold onto the dots you bought or to have taken $250 from you. It's just like when girls that don't really like guys pretend to like them in order to get them to buy them things and shit. That's why you never buy a girl dinner until you at least get a handjob. LeGrouper: I am absolutely 100% DEAD SURE I wasn't in love. It was just that those 29 trips we've spent together had melted away so many Ego-defences & such between us that our friendship reached unbelievable closeness. We nearly fused together and the separation & the way it occurred was like having a chunk torn out of our souls. Yes: him too. When we got together I noticed alot of times that he had really missed me all that time and that he TRIED to really connect: His mindfucked state prevented him really doing that, really. And I like to add that his warp occurred over a year before he got high on LDS.
I don't want to insult him behind his back, but I seriously think his joining the LDS was his preferred alternative to being commited to a Psychiatric Hospital.
Alot of things he wrote reminded me of severe crisis that bordered on Psychosis, and I mean that in a DSM sort of way. In the LDS he found new stability: a way to be surrounded by "friends", a means of filling his day and as an excuse to himself to drop his wide range of delusions ("an UFO came hovering above my house just to give me a Message" & such, which happened while NOT tripping) and substituted it for Religious Dogma.
Sad, really sad...

By the way: his largest trip was like 300mcg of LSD (equal to about 10 gr of average compost-grown Cubensis) which wasn't a LEVEL 5, and a failure for him. He said: "It's going TOO FAR!" & such and I guided him for like 10 hours as good as I could on same dose. I made him pop the equivalent of 10mg Valium (half a Roofie) which eased his anxieties to some extent, but wasn't enough to snap him out of it. All please read my earlier: "...Psychedelics & Benzo's" post right on the next page of Trip Tips. It's highly neglected, undeservedly so, as it's PACKED with SUPER info EVERY tripper should know about. PLEASE READ THAT ONE !!!

I'll take you word this time WS, I guess i do have a hard time imagining true friendship with someone of the sex that I am attracted to. I am not trying to be a dick, I totally do not have a problem with people being gay, I just have a hard time imagining having a purely platonic friendship with a girl so I have trouble picturing it. But I am not trying to argue, you would know if you were in love or not and you seem pretty honest and straight forward so in light of all of that, i would say that your friend lost his mind. I find this a good strategy to truely discover if the friendship's for real or not. I really find this hard to understand. Once i was a member of the Jehovahs Witnesses, forcibly, but i was, and they said a lot of crazy things and seemed to back it all up, but really didn't. But what surpirsed me was the total lack of any questioning whatsoever of what they were being told. It was almost taboo to question anything an "elder" or a preist said. My years spent as a Jehovahs witness are probly what turned me off of religion, but ironicaly, Its probly the reason i have a pretty reasonable knowledge of the bible. Yeah...

Friendships can become really INTENSE when you've Shroomed together for a long while. You see eachother at his/her most vulnerable & every now & again see them as a Hero, or be a Hero to them. It's my experience that Shrooms "open you up" towards others, especially good friends that happen to be tripping with you.

well, i can understand this post because i live right here in good ol' Salt Lake City, Utah. plus i've had my BEST friend turn his back on me. so let me be the first to tell you, that the LDS church might as well be a cult, because thousands of shitheads hide behind that bullshit religion. for instance, my dad, blackmailed the bishop on a business deal in order to not get ex-communicated. but that's a different story.

my advice to you man, is to get your money back. you're gay friend basically punked you for your money, and regardless of whether you get your money back, you need to defend your dignity. if you can't beat him in a straight fist fight, beat him down with a baseball bat. it's definitely worth it man, you'll completely rid this fool from you and you'll have no regrets. nothing worse than looking back and feeling jipped and knowing you did nothing.

and as far as the LDS church goes, it's a piece of shit. i regularly punk my seminary classmates (seminary is mormon church at school, yes the government is run by mormons in utah and the constitution doesn't apply here) into denial. you should see this fags deny facts for no reason at all except to feel safe. it's ridiculous, but that's what the weak need. so let them do as they please, but not if it means you get jacked 250 bucks.

Writer? Er, in Dutch, yes... A funwriter though, not been published yet, nor tried to.

I guess most people get backstabbed every once in a while, and occasionally you're reminded of it again. Indeed: I wasn't going for the sympathy vote, just wanted to share my story. Tripping isn't just about you and the XX milligrams of Psilocybin, it's about friendships, a sense of community, the good AND the bad too.

If there's a TripTip to be gotten from this, it's probably to go about tripping and tripping friends carefully, I guess. Suppose we lived in the US & he had informed the cops on me. Those dots I had back then would likely have turned into a "Mandatory Minimum" nightmare... About my lost friend: I hope he's happy: from what I've heard he's severed all connections to people I know of and he's fulltime LDS. Cults... To each his/her own.

I personally enjoyed the story. The point wasn't the metaphors, or the homsexuality, it was the story of losing a friend, money, and other things all at once. I had the same almost exact thing happen to me. Chris. We would trip/smoke/snort all the time together. He was the greatest trip buddy. He even went so far as to record our conversations on shrooms without me knowing, just so he would have a record of all the search for life jargon we spit out when tripping. Then he would take some of the phrases and mix them into songs. He was cool.

Then he found God. of course, this was after borrowing money from me to support our habit. After trying to sleep with all my girlfriends. After berteying my trust time and time again. But it was easy for me to let go. I realized he was a good trip buddy, and that was it. In real life, he served no purpose in the terms of friendship. He broke away, claiming God, and I just shrugged and tripped right along. I tripped once alone right after taht, and pondered it quite some time. Now I know I made the right decision in getting out of the friendship.

He found God. fine. No more drugs for him. Fine. But me, I'm outta here. I'll never forget some of the talks we had, but what can you do. Now I have a whole gang of trip buddies, who are far more into the scene and the trip convos then he ever was. Education does pay off.

Anyway, It was no real big loss. I thought at the time it would be, but it wasn't. That's what I learned.

It's my experience that alot of people get onto the path of Religion BY the Shroom (see Leary's "Good Friday Experiment") and that usually it's the fellow believers or books/scrolls with Dogma that make people renounce Shrooms. Losing a friend sux. But losing one in the Name of God... Ouch.

Girlfriends: you see it time & time again... X has alot of friends, X falls in love, X doesn't need friends anymore or is prevented from seeing them by his/her significant other. I've seen and heard that sooo many times it makes me sick to my stomach. Another friend of mine got married and had to part with all his major hobbies (They scare me honey) and all of his friends (You've got ME, haven't you?) because his GF/Wife didn't agree with them.
Boom! What can you do? The Ladies from Hades take all.

Don't think of people as losers, tho. True: how alot of people live their mindnumbingly boring lives doesn't feel right to me too, but remember that we can't judge anyone or anything since none of us has all the facts.
Friendships come and go, trust is gained and lost... Sad though.

As far as the love/relationship discussion: I'm not sure why WS got so defensive about "loving" his friend....I love many of my friends....I don't think there was anything sexually attached to the initial comment.

WS and the Mormon guy: That's sad, really. I've seen friends get involved with drugs, get addicted, and forget about what's important in life but that kind of cult addiction is the saddest of all. religion truely is the opiate of the masses. And that sucks that he stole from you and is trying to use something as sacred as the idea of God to justify it.....I'm sure if God does exist, he/she doesn't appreciate your ex-friend using him as a write-off for theft.

It's strange how people can change to the point of becoming other people, or even discarding old values they used to hold dear.
I sometimes feel like I wasted a year hanging out with an asshole down the street who parlyzed my cat and lied about it, and was involved with theft of me stuff and much wasted cash... Someone I introducted to acid, mushrooms, and basically taught to think beyond the moronic level he was on.

While being an all around asshole, being involved in the theft of a half oz of good nugs of mine, and parlyzing my cat, I still met many many great people directly/indirectly through him I would have otherwise never known.
Thus I can't condemn myself too much for pissing away a year or so smoking/venturing with this screwball...
I even saved his ass from getting in legal troubles when another friend of mine took the fall.

Unforuntely, WS, the part you mention about friendships and trust being gained and lost is true...

Even extremely close friends can be seperated by a divergence in belief, or over greed or money/drugs....

You see who your true friends are sometimes when the shit hits the fan or you are in dire need. Someone mentioned this above as well...

It would be nice to know in advance if someone was going to betray you in such a way...

I have lost $1000 already to assholes/bitches in my life who I have misplaced trust in, and try to make wiser decisions now. In a new city for college and am trying to pick out the genuine folks early on..

uh dude, "Thou shalt not kill" is from the Ten Commandments in the Bible. "An eye for an eye" is from Hammurabai's Code and has absolutely nothing to do with the Bible. I love when people come up with proof like this for things they obviously have no knowledge of.

I was a Jehovah's Witness from my inception to my late teens! It was hard man! I don't miss it! I never felt like I fitted in with it, and I still dont feel like I do! What sucks though is that it has left me with scars!! It does drive my subcouncious sometimes. My parents are so caught up in the shit its not even funny! My mom is constantly reminding me of how Im not going to be with her in the NEW SYSTEM OF THINGS. It's truly sad how brainwashed I am by it to. I cant go a day without thinking about how I am going to die when armageddon comes!

Slowly I am breaking away from it though, but it is so hard. They really get into your subcouncious.

Most modern organized religions end up being corrupted into one purpose -- gaining power over people.

Catholicism used to be the ruling body in England... not the King.

The roots of these religions are good in nature, but the true message often gets lost in transit -- corrupted.

Eastern philosophies like Buddhism are much more pure, and less about control. If you seek spirituality, I suggest you check out Buddhism, Yoga and Reiki.

Wicca isn't too bad as a personal religion, but I'd beware of joining a coven or any other sort of group without being sure that they didn't have any alterior motives.

As for most Christian based religions touted by people in uniform with name tags toting bilbles, I'd be very wary.

They border on cultism. Next thing you know, you'll be going door to door handing out pamphlets and talking about saving people.

Why do these religions suck so many people in? It is because they, like the devil they talk about, use half-truths to trap you.

It is ingrained that everyone believes in a certain "law of karma", whereby the good they do will be rewarded in some cosmic way, and likewise the bad they do will come back against them. Basically what you do (good or bad) will have an effect on the universe, and eventually come back to you somehow.

Everyone also believes in a "higher power"... or at least that there is some sort of spiritual force out there. They may not admit it, but they do.

So, those organized religions prey upon those two factors. They say, "Hey, we know you've done some bad things. God knows too. If you join us, repent your sins, ask God for forgiveness and give yourself to Him, then all your sins will be forgiven, and you will be reborn as a true child of God".

To the very sinful, this is great news. Chances are the strictest enforcers of religion were once (or still are) great sinners.

To be told that you can blame all your sinning habits on "the devil" and "the tools of the devil" (drugs, loose women, homosexuals, etc, etc), and can be forgiven of all your sins by renouncing the devil and giving yourself up to God, this is very appealing to those who believe themselves damned, or a "lost cause".

It certainly is easy to blame your shortcomings on something else -- "the devil" or drugs -- and this is even reflected in modern court cases where people get reduced sentences for blaming drugs or alcohol for allowing them to commit rape, murder or theft.

Well, it's all an excuse. You didn't kill that person because the "devil" made you, or the drink, or the drug. It may be the easy way out, but the path to heaven is not an easy one, as is clearly pointed out in the bible.

The stairway to heaven isn't ascended by making the easy choices, and by blaming your problems on others.

You have to take responsibility for your own actions, good or bad.

As for your friend who has fallen prey to LDS... it seems he has fallen off of the true path. If you're a true friend, you'll find a way to snap him out of it... but it's not going to be easy, and can't be done by force.

Chances are that when he was off tripping by himself, he discovered some things about himself that he didn't like, and that he was ashamed of. Maybe he blamed them on the drugs. Maybe Mormans came knocking on his door while tripping, and they took this as the perfect opportunity to get into his head.

Organised religions generally ARE deathtraps, I must agree. In the ideal world people who choose to be religious (like me) look directly at God(s) and don't let themselves be diverted by "church officials" on power trips. Being religious is about YOU & the DIVINE and nothing should come between that.
No Pope, no Priest, no Mullah, no Coven, no Holybook, no nothing.
Being religious is all about becoming FREE, not ENSLAVED by Dogma or the will of others.

If i were you, in response to all of those letters your buddy sent you using the bible to bash gays, i'd send him a copy of Jesus Conspiracy: The Turin Shroud and the Truth about Ressurection. It's all about how Christianity is basically based on BS. Another good one is The Mystery of Manna: The Psychedelic Sacrament of the Bible it shows how in the old testament book of exodus, moses and his followers shroomed regularly. They talked about how they saw god when they tripped, and the ark of the covenant was actually filled with wafers made of honey and shrooms. Although, if your friend is too high on LDS, he probably won't even read them. I have met several mormons, and it pisses them off incredibly when i can give tons of evidence in both the bible and history that proves their religion to be wrong. Somehow, it never makes a difference, but i think its fun to make such close minded people angry, and even more fun to laugh in their face when they tell me i'm going to hell.

I have a great trip friend who we have been through some mad times together talking on deep levels of the creation of the universe. When I first met him he was into the bible and book of revelations but over time as we have done more and more psychedelics he has now turned to budism and beleives there is no god, no devil which is cool. I understand the type of closeness you mean but it is more like a brother or something like that. The only thing you could do is give it time or try to get to his level and try and reprogram him. You could talk about the times you used to trip and describe thing in a way to stimulate his memory. You shouldnt give up on him we all meet our friends through KARMA and probably new them in our past lives just try to help him if you can.

As for the acid are your sure he didnt do to much to soon as in a tripping state thought it would be a good idead to take the lot. Cos when i have had an amount of acid it is very tempting to start munching on it forgetting safty.

I had a mormon friend that is no longer is mormon. I think I had something to do with this, but he is kinda lazy and I couldn't see him spending 2 years of his life converting people.I basically told him his religon is a cult and we also talked alot about beliefs and stuff. I even went to church with him once and had to wear the white shirt, tie and black phants (bleh). After that I said that mormons are tools.

He also said he'd never drink or do drugs, now he drinks and last I heard, he wants to smoke salvia.

I don't want to convert people, and really I believe him shrooming again would be a very bad idea. He's changed, something valuable was lost & not regained as far as I know of. I mean: From a wide-open view to stubborn narrow-mindedness, from flexibility to rigidity... I'm afraid the shroom would tear him to shreds should he try them again at the Hidoses (LVL 5) we used to do back then.
I believe things will be allright eventually.
May not be in this life, tho.
