Too much inoculate

Greetings,
Being pretty new to this I tried an experiement. I decided to shoot up some jars at five injection sites, using about 3 and a half cc's per jar. It actually worked good on the Golden Teacher (colonized VERY fast), but wasted the B+ and F+. I have been much more successful on the jars using 2 cc's or below. I guess the high amout of inoculate drowned the substrate. Has anyone else tried this and noticed the same? Just trying to confirm the reason for failure. Half pint jars, rye flour and vermiculite.
Thank you

i made an idiot move and put 4cc in 2 jars (8cc total) of ecuador. they did germinate really fast though. faster than the jars that i used 1cc each. i dont really care about wasting solution cuz i just ordered 6 more syringes of diff. strains.

The effects of huge innoculations can vary a lot based on how much moisture is in the substrate. If the substrate is rather dry, it can handle the excess water with ease, allowing for not too much moisture, and very fast colonizing.
However if the substrate is already kind of moist, it'll get waterlogged. Waterlogging slows down mycelial growth, if not stalling it completely.
So, take note, and if you plan to do big innocs in the future, use a touch less water than you normally would and you should be golden.

Yep, you are messing up the water content. You can leave jars dry on purpose and add lots of spore solution or LC. It is better with LC since you are not wasting expensive syringes.

So perhaps the jars were not drowned? Hmmm, trying to figure the cause of failure...

In this case I'd say drowning = waterlogging
Give them a few days and see what happens. If they are in fact dead, you'll start to smell a funky contam smell when other bacteria start to move in on the substrate.
it could be that the excess moisture has just slowed down the growth some.

OK, I did not reduce the water content before I shot up the big amounts. Live and learn, damnit!
Thanks everyone
