I BOUGHT A KIT FROM A LOCAL STORE AND I WAS WANDERING IF ANYTHIGN IS HAPPENING. I MIXED MY SPORES WITH RYE AND GOT SOME MYCELIUM BUT NOT MUCH. I MIXED WHAT I HAD WITH THE COMPOST THAT I GOT. ANYWAYS, RIGHT NOW I HAVE THE FUZZY LITTLE BALLS OF I WANT TO SAY WAS THE RYE COVERED IN MYCELIUM BUT THE COMPOST ISNT COVERED IN IT...... ON THESE LITTLE BALLS I HAVE THESE REAL SMALL LITTLE BALLS THAT KINDA OF HAVE LIKE A DARK HEAD ON THE END OF THEM. I REALLY DONT KNOW IF THIS MEANS THE MUSHROOMS ARE COMING OR WHAT??? CAN SOMEONE RESPOND AND TELL ME WHAT I GOT...... THANKS ABUNCH

1- CAPS LOCK MUST BE off, please.
2- Read PF Tek or MMGG and make a song with it.
3- a) What was in the kit?
b) Did you innoculated with a spore print or syringe?
c) How did you innoculated the rye ?
d) Was the rye sterilized on a PCooker or did it came pre-sterilized?
e) What was the compost made of ?
f) Did you pasteurized the compost ?
g) Wich ratio did you use of colonized rye to compost ?
h) Where is the compost resting ?
i) Wich temperature and Rh are you using?
j) Did you use a top layer ? You might have luck and those heads could be mushrooms but first answer these question and read, read, read, read.

Good lord man, that was most certainly the worst post i have ever read. Turn off the caps lock to start with, take a breath, and begin telling what you hvae for equipment :P
Spores? prints? clone?
substrate?
casing?
jars, bags, dishes.. what :P
temperatures..
next, what the heck is this compost doing in the mixture ;P

The rye was sterilized. Also, I had a sporieprint on a q tip that came with the kit. That was completely sterilized too. I just had to mix the end of the q-tip with the spores on there and then mix the bag up and let it sit for mycelium to grow. So now the mycelium is in the sterilized compost that came with it. I just need to know if these little white fuzzy things with like these tiny dark heads on them are pinheads or maybe the stage before pinheads......Thanks....

Are you using spaces in that image filename you're trying to upload ?
There's a big message saying not to.
BTW, let the fuzzy things grow and then you'll see, but a pic would be great.

Spores on a Q tip...whats wrong with that? Im sure they are real spores...thats not the problem here.
THe problem is the lack of sterility that is required for using them and this kit. If you were quick about it and have a clean house, you may have gotten away with no contamination.
there are better ways.
I understans what the kit is meant to do, you are supposed to colonize the grain first, to get the mycelium started, then "case" it into the compost...theoretically effective, but due to the ultimate lack of sterility, i give the kit a thumbs down.
As far as what you have now, i think you *may* have dodged the bullet, and you have some pins. You may get a few shrooms from this kit.
However, now that you know a little about growing, you should visit the link at the bottom of my post and read up. This technique is foolproof if you use common sense, and follow the instructions to the letter.
