Could anyone tell me what is a species of cubensis that requires the least amount of maintenance. I am trying to venture into mushroom cultivation and don't know where to start. thanks.

im probably gonna get shunned for saying this, but go with B+. its one of the most common strains. really there is no difference though.

No matter what strain of cubensis you buy you need to follow the same procedure. There are no strains that let beginners take shortcuts. Roll the dice... Just like the other guy said.

I wish I got paid everytime a newb asked this question....
I also wish that there was some way to make absolutely sure that newbs read the FAQ's before they started asking questions...

koh samui is slightly more contam resistant, or z-strain is fast. those are my choices to beginners.

Growing mushrooms takes alot of patience. Maybe beginners should start with the slowest strains available so they can learn to appreciate quicker growing strains =p

the thai kamoi super strain from the hawks eye is pretty hearty.
i once had a jar that i thought was contaminated, so i took it out of the jar, threw it in the garbage in an open plastic bag (where it sat for two days), took it back out, dunked it, and then fruited it with no problems :-P
-------------------- Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

What I did was just try a couple different strains and keep them labeled. That way you can figure out what you like best. Be sure to keep the labels straight though, IDing mushies after fruiting can be hard sometimes.

I suppose it's all a matter of opinion, but IMO Cambodians or possibly Ecuadorians are great beginner strains due to their resistance to contamination (according to research I've done elsewhere). Sterility shouldn't be that big of an issue, it's all common sense, but sometimes shit happens.

no, i think that i had it right the first time. i also think that "most" or at least some people would agree with me. i have used many strains, and for me, and all of my fellow shrooming friends around here all agree that Z is fast, and KS is slower, but unusually contam resistant. Now if you wanna "fit in" or try to be in the "norm" with your politically correct little edit, just remember that this is a shroom site, and not a freaking political side show.
I have quite a few strains, (golden teacher, creeper, koh samui, pesa, pesh, hualta, acadian coast, puertorican, orrisa, yadda yadda.....) and Z IS the fastest of them period. those fucking jars are half way done by the time most others even sprout. and if i get a bad batch of jars (contamed) the only ones that ever seem to come thru are the KS. so i think that was generally good advice.

South American, defiantly the best cube strain for a first time cultivator. Fast growth, prolific fruiter. Very friendly.
