Ran over a cat today
    #5430398 - 03/22/06 03:09 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

He just dashed out under my wheels right outside my house!
Big pale ginger tom, haven't seen him around before...
Called round loads of houses in the area asking if they knew anyone with a cat fitting that description, no one did...  :frown:

He's in a cardboard box now.

What to do?

If I bury it it's not going to stop the owners worrying themselves sick about their pet  :frown:

If it was my animal I'd want to know.

You sort of did all that you can be expected to do.  Lots of people would have just driven away and not bothered calling houses like you did

I would bury it and keep an eye out for any "Lost Cat" posters.  Maybe they'll even offer a reward for any information as to it's whereabouts?

Sorry...lousy joke

Honestly though, look for Lost Cat posters, and although it would be a shitty call to have to make, you could call them than and inform them of the news.  With any luck it was feral

It probably was a stray.I dont know about you but in my neighborhood cats run wild all day,the little bastards sneak under my house, just last night I heard somthing coming from my floor vent in my room,it freaked me out.I decided it must have been somthing under the house rubbing up against the big air hose connected to the central heating and air then to my floor vent.I hope thats what it was.

Just bury the cat,I hear the meat is stringy and needs salt added.

Have any asian restaraunts nearby?

This cat wasn't a stray, it had immaculate fur and was very well fed plus strays where I live are unheard of.

If my pet had vanished I'd phone all the vets in the area. I'm going to do that tomorrow.

I almost hit a coyote yesterday. I was freaked out. He just bolted across the highway. I would have cried like a girl if I hit him.

I love cats.  I'd say, uhm, a lot of cats have embedded chips.  Call the humane society or someone, ask if it's anyone's cat, so they can at least have peace of mind on where their fluffly little friend is.  I'm sorry to hear that the little guy got hit. :frown:

I remember how sad I was when I "popped" an armadillo on a country road. I could actually feel it pop beneath the tires. Ever since then I will swerve like crazy to avoid animals on the road. People....less so.

That was nice of you to call around the neighborhood. You did all you could.

Shitty. One time on the tracks me and some friends saw this dead cat with a skull split open, cat brains look funny after being frozen for a couple months.

My cat ran away in the fall, around Halloween and I still looks for him.  I still visit the local human society, I still call veterinary clinics about cats that go through, I still keep and ear and eye out for black kitties in the area.

There is a big possibility that someone is going crazy with worry over that little dude.  Give him a funeral and call the vet clinics and the local cat shelter...(spca?) and just leave some information about what he looks like and what happened to him.  Just so they know.

Not knowing the worst thing.  :frown:

Aww, how sad.  :frown:  Hope your kitty returns to you. My kitties are like my children.  I would be devestated if they just disappeared.  Cats are like nothing else when it comes to personality.

To a safe return.

Aww, how sad. I always get the birds. I've hit over 50 birds since I've learned to drive. It's insane. It's like they're attracted to my damn car.

I hit a bird almost monthly. Damn those things. You'd think because they fly, that they would stay away.

I'm sorry about the cat hun.
