If we are alone in the universe, it sure is an awful lot of wasted space

An artist doesn't see empty space, he see's potential.

If we are alone, thats an awfully big canvas to paint on.

*distance is relative....

"space" is merely a concept designed to describe the configuartion of various distances. It, by itself, is not relative. It just is. The things that take place in space are relative.

Yes, space is absolute. Time is, what makes it relative

Hmm, Why can't time be absolute and space be relative?

I don't get how to separate those two concepts from each other. I think they are both relative.

The universe is alive. One organism. We're not alone because we are part of it. The universe seems like a lot of empty space but look at the atom. A human is, comparatively speaking, mostly empty space, too.

Empty space is great!

We can see it, yet we cannot exist without it.

There is more then one galaxy out there and to think in a different galaxy nothing like us exists? That's insane!

The number of galaxies in just the VISIBLE universe is quite huge and, consequently, the number of stars in the visible universe is mind-boggling. There are an estimated millions of galaxies in the universe, each with hundreds of billions of stars.

Take a look at this picture, of the visible universe:

Every point of light in that picture is an entire galaxy - around 100 billion stars for each point of light

Mmmmm Carl Segan is great, he soothing voice just makes complex things so simple. They replay his show on Discovery Channel. But yeah there is alot of empty space in atoms too...? Its like all this stuff like plantes and galaxes, put enough of them together, shake em around, and a higher order pops out. Well mayby

I also saw a movie called Cat Soup that delt with this topic, kinda
