Fan not strong enough to pull air through HEPA Filter.......

I've tried having the fan pushing air through and I've tired having the fan pull it through, but it's never strong enough to get it through. I've also tried having it pull air through a dust mask, but still no luck. I've seen people using fans for positive pressure glove boxes, so there must be some kind of fan that does the job... Maybe not a high enough cfm? I could have sworn it was higher when I bought it, I don't have the packaging now.

Here's it's info: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999067

You need a little squirrel cage fan. Those computer puppies will not create PRESSURE.

I've seen pictures of +P GBs that use computer fans, it doesn't make any sense to me how they can get it to work.

My G/B is STILL AIR. Any air flow (imho) defeats the purpose of a G/B.
I do have a square of filter material on it. But, it is ambient & only allows gas exchange. So that any moisture inside can evaporate out.

I'd go with the squirrel cage fans, at least we KNOW that they generate a good amount of pressure.
My 2nd choice would be HIGH AMPERAGE HIGH K/V AC fans. The kind that hurt your ears when you turn em on ya know? I gotta have a pic of one somewhere.. 1 sec..

I wish I could just build a martha and get it over with. Next year I'll be in a place where I could have a martha, but for now, I think I'll get the V400 and Ultrasonic which I'll need to get anyways and use them on the tub for now, and then when I get the martha, I'll just move them over. I guess I could then tape up the two intake holes and fill the tub up with perlite and have myself a nice big terrarium for cakes. I put so many LEDs in the lid of this thing man, those shrooms better like blue cuz they're gunna be getting plenty of it.

CFM is irrelevant when looking at a computer fan. That 100 cfm is at zero static pressure. To push air through a filter, your fan has to be capable of producing static pressure and will be labled as such. That means a squirrel cage fan. The so-called posi pressure gloveboxes you see with computer fans work simply because they don't work. If the fan were really drawing in 100 cubic feet of air per minute into a glovebox, every jar or petri dish ever done inside would contaminate. As it is, they're little more than still air gloveboxes with a noise maker attached. Even if a bit of air comes out the arm holes, it's most likely entering either through those same arm holes or through cracks in the seal around the lid. Air flow will always follow the path of least resistance, which isn't going to be through a filter.
Also, trying to filter airborne contaminants with a dust mask is a little bit like trying to catch mosquitoes with a butterfly net. It ain't gonna work. RR
