Cake directly on perlite??

i have a cake directly on perlite, but the cake it in the shape of a u, just like that. Soo i was wondering how long i could leave it on the perlite cause it dosent have a middle to kindofe store moisture. What do any of you Myco genuises think about leaving it on endefinatly?

If you dunked and rolled, sitting it on the perlite directly is not neccessary. If the cake seems to be dry, sitting it on the perlite will wick some water into the substrate and help to rehydrate the lower portion a bit. I've fruited cakes (the one time I did cakes) through multiple flushes by sitting the cakes directly onto the perlite layer the entire time, to no ill effect. As long as the cakes aren't sitting in water, they'll be fine.

ok thx alot man, i knew it would rehidrate some of the cake. the pinns look really cool coming from the bottom of the inside of the u, they have to grow aff funky, its fun for me, lol.
