Perlite with Casings
    #542916 - 02/06/02 08:05 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

I have been reading a lot of posts similar to this topic but they never seem to relate to my situation specifically. Im using a rubermaid-esque terrarium with perlite on the bottom. I recently decided that instead of simply birthing the cakes I will be bold and try casing them. The problem is that my terrarium remains 95+rH. I know thats ok for pinning but when it comes time for actual growth it is too high. How can I go about lowering the humidity without going out and buying a bunch of expensive equiptment? Misting was what I was thinking, but is there anyway to use perlite and still keep the humidity at the constant correct level? And if it comes down to misting is a fan shield really nessicary... I mean... could I simply spray around the casings and not directly on them?
gracias

Don't use perlite if you're gonna case. The casing mix will keep the humidity high enough. Just fan a few times a day. Mist after fanning so your casings dont dry out. DO NOT over mist. Just keep your casing moist. A shield is not needed. Just make sure your mist is a fine mist.

If you will it, it is no dream.
