1st try with rye

-I soaked the rye grain in water at room temperature for ~24hours. It didnt expand too much. I did not simmer the rye.
-I put the rye in a colander and then to jars (holes in the lids w/polyfill)
-PCed them for ~1 hour.
-inoculated with a sporesyringe
-Jars sat at room temperature, in dark for a couple of days and some white spots formed.
-I shook the jars every 2-3 days and waited. After a week or so I put them in a tub , raised the RH to 60-70% with some verm (grain seemed a bit dry so I figured this would help) and put a couple of lamps to raise the temps to ~75-80F. Jars are not exposed to light.
-~2weeks after the inoculation and the rye is fully covered with fuzzy white myc and there are a couple of strong-white spots. The myc formed is very "light" and doesnt seem to fully "penetrate" the rye and it has been like this for many days. I havent shaken 2 of the jars for 5 days now.
Whats wrong? Or are they ready for h/poo?

Few mistakes.
You really should simmer. Soaking and simmering are for two totally different things. Soaking is to germinate the bacterial spores, that way they can be killed during pc. This step is not for adding water content to the grain.
Simmering is just for that. Adding water content to the grain. By doing this you expand the grain and fill it with water. Then drain the excess water out.
Now. You incubated them at room temp. You should of incubated them in a dark, 80-84 degree temp area. Adding humidity does _nothing_ while they are in the jars. Check out the tub-in-tub incubater.
You give them humidity, light, and fresh air to initiate pinning.
Now your jars sound fine to me, just some weak myc. Maybe give it a few more days to build up then case it.
You should be fine, just remember those steps next time =). Goodluck.
