Fruiting cakes in lower temps
    #5426492 - 03/21/06 05:56 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

So I've had my cakes in the fruiting chamber for about 7 days now. For the first 5 days, I was able to keep temps around 70-75 and sometimes fall to the high 60's at night. It's been cold the past couple days and nights so my temps haven't been much higher than 70, falling into the lower 60's at night. To top it off, my furnace upstairs died. How bad is this going to affect my first flush? From what I've read, it'll just slow down the process a bit. I have about 5-6 pins popping up now. Will this damn my cakes? Hopefully it starts to warm up in the next couple days.

I fruit at 68-72F and all I can say is that it takes another 4 days sometimes. I've had periods of two weeks before pins but the size of the flush is fucking huge everytime. This is with PF cakes, i'm assuming you have those.

Yea, that's right. My first pins were after 5 days. But, like I said, it's goin to be cold for the next couple days so my temps will fall. The one thing I did do was move the fruiting chamber on top of my TiT incubator. Temps went up like a degree or two so far.
