A rare trippy book.
    #5426475 - 03/21/06 05:53 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I've known about this book for a while. It's called the Codex Seraphinianus, and it's an encyclopedia of an imaginary world in a parallel universe. Check this out:

It's like a trippified Voynich manuscript. More pics and info here.

The whole book is written in that weird indecipherable script. And it's a big book. I love the illustrations. I like to watch things change into other things. Metamorphosis. The cycle of growth and decay, really just the same thing. And the patterns. Nature is intelligent.

I would love to own a copy. You might be able to grab one on ebay for about $250. Still never seen one in the flesh. One of these days I tell you..

Wow thats really good stuff. It awakens a childlike sense of wonder, I'd love to come across it somewhere and go over it real close.

I really hope somebody out there has hosted a PDF of this.

This looks like a really interesting book. A strong oddity AND novelty, which is right up my alley.

If I could afford it I would without a doubt buy a copy. Seriously, this kind of shit is what I live for. Novelty, obscurity, oddity... I'm quite enthused.

You know... now that I think of it... I bet that a clever mind could decipher the odd dialect in which it is written.

That is trippy as hell. Good call!

It reminds me of that animated movie, what is it? The Amazing Planet? Where the humans are pets to the Voivods or something like that.

Lets all chip in and buy that book.

One day I hope I can collect some rarebooks. Not too many, just ones that are really important to me.

It is illegal to read my autobiography within 3,000,000 miles of Earth.

Same here man. I can barely afford rent at the moment tho so I can't justify spending money on something as extravagant as this.

People are making some efforts to decipher it, but the general consensus is that it is not a language. The author, Luigi Serafini was an artist and this seems to be a work of art first and foremost...

However..have you heard of the Voynich manuscript? This book is kind of a parody of that. The voynich manuscript is 600 years old and is of unknown origin, it is written in a strange script that has yet to be deciphered, although MANY have tried. It has weird illustrations of various flora/fauna and some cosmological shit.

There is an mp3 floating about of Terence Mckenna talking about it. Great to hear him wax lyrical on such a fascinating topic.
