I am going to try to make some large cakes using bags. i you were to go pf style with your bags, since their is no dry top could you break the substrate up to speed up colonization. I'm sure you can since its sealed, but just wont to make sure.

Last question, if i wanted to use some dehydrated manure from myco supply, is their a simple ration i could follow to add it to the pf tek thank you kindly.

if your going to do that you might as well use WBS, RYE, or PopCorn

large cakes would stall. this why the pf tek says to use 1/2 jars becouse those are the optimal size jars for pf cakes. you can get a wa with one pint jars but they will stall more offten than 1/2's. anything larger would probly almost always stall. Although one would beable to crumble the cake while its still in the bag and spread the myc around and that might help it out alot. But there are better substraights that you could use in a bag. Just ask myco supply about that.;)

yes, i know my options but i want to make some large cakes. I've got some millet going right now, but i like the pf tek so much i want to go with some huge cakes. I will be inoculating with LC, so colonization shouldn't take to long. what i need to make sure of though is that pf style in bags can be broken up at say 35-40% thanks

There's no reason why it shouldn't be able to be broken up.

Your method seems pretty impractical, but if you break it up and spread the myc around it will help speed up the colonization no matter what substrate youre using.

Im doing bags too and I was wondering when you should break up the myc. I heard like 35-40 percent colonized and iver heard 75% which is write or is it better to break it up at 35 and then again at 75????
