I stumbled upon this today, and was wondering if anyone has heard/tried this. Its' a grapefruit extract. Im not sure if it would hurt mushroom mycelium. http://cgi.ebay.com/WHEATGRASS-MOLD-CONT...0QQcmdZViewItem

Well it doesn't even tell you what's in it. If it stops mold then it's probably a fungicide which is no good for this hobby.

The reason I pointed this out is, it is in fact not a chemical fungicide. And i imagine if one where to apply this to mold growth it could suspend it. it actually does say what it is : "MOLD CONTROL is a 100% natural liquid extract of Grapefruit seeds and pulp. It is extracted with vegetable glycerin, without alcohol, solvents, or chemicals. We have found that it is a powerful mold retardant and thus very useful to wheat grass growers"
Either way I thought some of you might find this interesting.

Havn't tryed it but I would in a second! Sounds fine. Add some to a water bottle and mist lightly. It won't kill it Iam 90% sure anyway. Also if the conditions are right in your chamber mold wont grow anyway. How do you think the grow in the wild so well without contams. I'll buy some and post results. Peace and good luck!

That doesn't say what's in it. It's what they do to get it. And if it kills mold, how is it not a fungicide?

Well It says clearly whats in it. Maybe your getting re-directed to a link missing the same info I'm reading. Either way I posted this not as an argument of ingredients, but rather as a heads up to anyone wanting to experiment. IE. Being that its natural and retards mold growth, maybe it would retard mold in a casing layer. For those among us open to experimentation, hopefully this will interest you as this was my intention.

I'm not trying to come across as a dick but there are some reading comprehension problems here. It does not say everything that is in it. It contains Citricidal, vegetable glycerine, and some mystery substances extracted from grapefruit. Also nowhere does it state that it is not a fungicide. There are plenty of natural fungicides. I also get the feeling that you're offended that you didn't get a fully positive response. I just like to play devil's advocate.

I'm not offended by any stretch of the word. This wasn't a debate as you seem to be inclined to make it.

LOL....Remember that an "argument" is nothing but an intellectual battle of between two opposing points of view. Saying that you're not trying to turn this into a debate is like saying that you dont want youself and/or others to speak their mind.
BTW. Isnt mycelium a mold? Why wouldnt a 100% natural MOLD KILLER not kill mycelium. I don't understand.

Good point Akira. As I haven't tried this stuff, I have nothing further to say about it.
