Once the jars are all covered with mycelium, and ready to be placed into the aqurium, what would you guys say is the best method? Use perlite with a mix of water and hydr. peroxide and place the cakes on a screen thats 1in above the perlite, or to break the cakes up, and mix them in a different solution like cocoa or what not?
Anyone have any good ideas? If ya do plz go into details, i am using GT strain.
Thanks alot guys, you experts help more then youll ever know!

casing will give you better yeilds, but beginners often use cakes for a while..
the reason casing is considered more difficult is because it is somewhat more prone to contams, and its a little harder to keep hydrated. if you decide to case, i recommend that you case with straight verm until you get the hang of it.

I've heard the GT is a slow colonizer. Is this true?

Thanks for the info man, I think i have decided to not case, just put my cakes as a whole in my aquirium with vermiculite on the bottom. Since I am not going to use perlite, willl I have to spray water for humidy more? Since vermiculite doesnt hold in humidity as well as perlite.
Again, thanks!

Im in no ways an expert, but, if you cant find perlite, you should just case, and use the evaporation from the casings, and mistings for humidity. You can also use a fish tank bubbler as well for humidity.
otherwise just do a serch online for perlite...its everywhere where i live
