My new pH meter?
    #5423425 - 03/20/06 09:16 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

How do you know if this pH meter is accurate?
It is giving me a reading of 6.6 in my coir/verm/crushed oyster shell casing mix.

I guess if you really want to test it then you need to get some litmus paper and compare. But why do you not trust the meter anyway? 6.6 is fairly good.

Good question how do you test or calibrate a PH meter...

What do you have... :stoned:

I didn't get a great mark in grade 12 chemistry but I'm guessing distilled water would have a PH of 7 no? Assuming it's clean, a little contamination would probably throw the whole thing WAY off..

I added 1tsp hydrated lime to see if I could get 7-7.2 and it barely hit 6.8.
Than i added table salt to test the meter and it went down to 6. I thaught salt would give a higher readeng not lower. Confused
