yup. ive read one of the teks where the guy cut the cake in half and it produced twice as much as one that wasnt. more surface area = more yield for cakes.

I really have no idea what you're talking about.
Some cakes pin really well, some don't. To be consistent and have a definate +++, just case every cake you birth. Very easy and yields get bigger. GL
small cakes < big cakes stronger network, more nutes, more water

i was thinking like a cone shape, maby 4 in tall 5 in base diameter? i have some pretty wicked jars that i think might be pretty fun to play with.

More surface area does not result in a larger yield. Yield will depend largely on substrate nutrients.

how can it not? besides nutrients, if you had more surface area on the cake, wouldnt you have more area for pins/shrooms?

Well for one thing increasing the surface area doesn't necessarily mean you will get more pins. BUT assuming you do get more pins by increasing the surface area the only thing I see being improved is the rate at which the nutrients are used up. eg. two good flushed opposed to three.
