Positive Things (please share yours)

A few positive things happened today and so I've been trying to focus on them.
*Finished three challenging grooms in time. (Bichon, poodle, schnauzer, all with special instructions. One had never been groomed before, a puppy. We got through it and he looked fantastic.)
*I'm over halfway done and 40-50 more dogs to go before I'm on commission. It felt very good today to be so "into" my grooming.
*Kevin did a Tarot reading for me and my last card was the Hierophant. That gave me a nice boost to think I got the Hierophant. I also got the 'Blue Star' which has special significance for me. So even though none of it made any sense. I liked those two cards.
*Invited out to dinner (and to go to California in September for a Star Trek Convention ) by a co-worker. I got numbers and email addresses from everyone at work, they thrust them on me and said if I ever needed to talk, to let them know. It really strikes me how much we're a team there. We all share the delicate details of our lives together and that means a lot. It's like we're all just clinging together on the same corporate raft. It gives me a soothing feeling to think of this.
*I am getting professional help this week, thanks to my mom's generosity and kindness. I can't believe it.
*Kevin is unreal. I love him so so much. He is beyond anything I ever could have prayed or hoped for in a husband. I couldn't ask for more.
So those are the positive things I am trying to dwell on.
What positive things can you think of in your life right now? I'd honestly like to hear them.

Professional help, eh?
I'm seeing a therapist, too. At first I was only doing it because Adam was pressuring me too, but I find myself leaving each session feeling refreshed, enlightened. I'm learning about my own cycles, my own emotional blocks and tones of other important things.
It's a really good thing....take what you want and leave the rest, you know?
Sounds like you're on an upnote today! Me too.

MAJOR positive thing (sorry, have to wait a while)
George W. Bush will no longer be president in 2008 and seeing how Republicans have fucked up so far there will be a Democratic president in 2008 with a majority Democratic congress.
I remind myself of this fact each and every day and it really does make me feel better.

Thanks Bom, I'm trying to cling to the positive right now. I'm hoping speaking to a therapist will be beneficial for me, if nothing else then having that extra bit of support. GOD knows I need it. It's encouraging to hear how therapy has helped you.
Kristi...give me a ring whenever you'd like to talk tonight, although I'll be in bed before midnight. I'm proud of you for not calling Robert. I know that takes courage...
DNKYD...hope you had fun with your friends.

I got a call back from a company I want to work for, and scheduled an interview. I am desperately broke and needed this. Its lookin pretty good, as I am uber experienced in this particular field (corporate delivery/catering around downtown los angeles)
I got some research work done at the school library.
I got my last paycheck from the company I USED to work for.
I found out a paper I was worried about isn't due till the end of the semester.
I recovered from a long, hard DOC trip that lasted all weekend. I awoke with a good night's sleep under my belt, which i hadn't had since wednesday night.
In keeping with my DOC-inspired resolution, I took no drugs of any kind today.
pretty good day actually

I got my new apartment a week ago and ahve been slowly moving in. The landlord was nice enough to allow me the last 3 weeks of March to move in. So I've been taking all my small boxes filled with shit that I can fit in my car. Then my family is coming down with their trucks to help me move so hopefully we can be done in two trips, which would be great. Takes a lot of stress off of me being able to move in gradually, instead of 2-3 days of pure hell.
I'm nervous about the new place cuz it's all hardwood floors, I've never had hardwood floors and I'm deathly afraid of scratching them, seeing as I'd kinda like my deposit back at the end of the lease.
Still waiting for the college to update their computers. The admissions and financial aid offices are not communicating with eachother so financial aid doesn't know that I've been accepted, funny thing is, they're right next door to eachother. It's pure bullshit, but I've done everything I need to do so all I can do is sit and wait. I love how they told me "you must get this paperwork done as early as possible", so I bust my ass for a week, calling multiple people and filling out enough paperwork to last a lifetime, and then they can't even update their computers...
On another note, anybody know how to frame custom size posters for really cheap? Any ideas? I went around to all the local frame shops and craftstores, all wanted over 200 bucks a poster!

for the most part, i enjoy life - as long as i've got a book to read, a friend to chat with, or a guitar to noodle on

It's cool to hear some positive things for once. My excellent day yesterday:
-got a lead on a good job from an instructor
-was offered an interview for another job
-spoke to TWO old buddies online that I haven't spoken to in a while
-found out my income tax return will be 2500 bones (I was broke as hell)
-finished a huge term paper and handed it in
Not bad.

I busted my butt this weekend installing a PC network and it all came out great. So good in fact, that the company president called and thanked me profusely for doing such an awesome job. He said whatever the invoice amount is, he'll throw in an extra $150 as a bonus! YAY!!
So, last night I celebrated by doing some of these with a friend. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I woke today feeling so refreshed and content.

I got a call from a buddy of mine that is locked up. He is at a work release and has a job welding and seems to be doing great. It was so great to hear from this guy! He has been a true friend and just got caught up in some stupid shit, when he was 19. Now, he has a 20 year sentence, but he has already done 6 years on it, so that means he will be paroled out, in the next couple of years, if he acts right. Anyway, he runs tatoos and I am buying him some "free world" ink, so he can have quality that will stay. I am also giving him a ten strip of this fluff that I have. He is ecstatic about the Lucy. Tripping in lock up takes a special kind of mentality, that's for sure!

Yeah I'm just saying wow about tripping in lockup.

Man, I can't even begin to imagine tripping in jail. I think it would be the last thing I'd wanna do.

It is definitely a humbling experience.
I got arrested, in Atlanta, the 2nd day of the Grateful Dead, in 1995 and I was tripping on 8 hits. It was damn near the most uncool thing that has ever happened to me.

I wish it were that warm here. I'd be out on the Harley.

I am sitting by the sliding glass door that goes out onto our back porch and the breeze isn't enough. It's getting pretty damn warm, actually. I love the Spring!

What a difference a few days make!
hmmmmmmm.....
last night I went for coffee and a chat....for almost 5 hours...
I talked to my mom about the trust money oweing....she's going to talk to my aunt.
I'm getting a "new" used car on friday...immaculate, barely driven....from a rich lady friend of my dads...shes just *giving* it to me
One of the regulars at work today, said he may have a summer job for me, he'll let me know next week
I applied yesterday, for one of the hardest placements to work in for next term....I'll be teaching in one of the lowest rated schools in the counrty, highest rate of poverty, iliteracy and drop-outs. Challenge & growth. The opportunity to help where its needed most.
I taught myself the adiabatic process! and finished that lab on time. Gooo me! (and wiki )

Hey Gillette, great to hear things working out so well. It sounds like you've had quite the turn around over the last couple days.

Elle, this is a great thread! What a great idea!

Here is my contribution:
I'm finally kicking my strep throat... it is just about gone. I should be done with my medication soon, too.
I've slipped a little on my pot habit, but I am keeping it under control so far.
And I made about 45 bucks for about an hour of painting at my dad's place... so that's nice.
