Making BRF
    #5422472 - 03/20/06 01:19 PM (18 years, 13 days ago)

Quick question. My friend can't buy a coffee bean grinder until he get paid in a couple of days, but he wants to start growing sooner than that (if you can imagine that :smirk:). He has everything ready except the brf, and he has a blender.

The only problem is, he thinks the blender can't handle the brown rice. He only puts in a small amount at a time, but the blender will eventually start to smoke, and some of the plastic at the bottom of the pitcher seems to be melting. That, and it doesn't grind it up very well.

The brown rice remains rather coarse, more like it has been chopped up, as opposed to resembling "flour". His instincts tell him to be patient and to wait until Thursday, but he's wondering if it will still work. Also, if the blender starts to melt again (, it smells like burning electronics), will that affect the growth at all, perhaps mutating the shrooms or something?

Any thoughts?

His only other idea was to go to Wal*Mart, buy some brown rice, open one end of the bag, dump it into the coffee bean grinder at the Millstone setup, grind it up, pour it back into the bag, and go up and pay for it.  Would the coffee remnants that are sure to get in there affect anything?

Peace. :mushroom2:

LOL!

I bought my coffee grinder from walmart for under 10 bucks man wasn't on sale or anything. You must have some pennys you can count? Beer bottles to take back? A credit card?

If your really stuck you could cobble up a mortar and pestle.

I do have plenty of pennies that I could count, and I realize that coffee bean grinders aren't expensive. I've been working my way out of a minor financial issue that I foolishly created for myself (not paying bills around Christmas time, then buying a truck and rent-to-owning some furniture ). In fact, we've often taken dimes and pennies into Wal*Mart, bought $20 of groceries, went through the self-checkout, and overfilled them with change. :smirk: The money that I have left from my check two weeks ago is slated for food and that's it...

Then again, putting 1000 pennies in one of those things might not work.

He'd use the blender but the fact that it melts sort of causes some concerns... He's basically just wondering how ground up brf usually is, is it pretty much like flour itself?

HyVee told me that they can special order brf, that doesn't help, and I think there is a health food store in town, but that would probably be expensive as fuck... I'm sure he'll probably just wait.....
