Mescaline and Tachycardia Concerns

I've come to understand that mescaline can cause tachycardia with use. Should I be concerned with with using mescaline if I were to have a pre existing heart condition such as a heart murmur?

A heart murmur is a faulty valve that leaks in the heart. Tachycardia is a rapid heartbeat anything over 100 beats per min is considered tachycardic in the world of EMS. But there is no realy danger of having a fast heartbeat over short term, basicly anytime you run or workout or exert yourself you will be tachycardic. it is when it goes extremely fast 180+ beats per min that tachycardia will most likely become life threatening and convert into supraventricular tachycardia or ventricular tachycardia. Both of which are abnormal heart rythms and most likely result in cardiac arrest if left untreated for even a short (30 mins or less) time. Basicly due to to the heart not having enough to to reset its self (Sodium Ion Pump for those who are medically inclines).

So I would'nt be experiencing anymore of a heart rate increase than if I were to go for a jog?

I'm not aware of any reports in the literature describing overtly dangerous levels of increased heart rate, can you provide a source?

Mecaline will raise heartrate a bit (somewhere between 1-5bpm depending on your age, health and sex). However, it shouldn't come close to anything remotely harmful unless your trip goes bad and anxiety starts to set in. As long as you stay relatively calm you should be fine.
Happy tripping.

It's hard to make a statement like that- honestly the most important factor is probably dose. At above 1g in a normal sized person, you'd probably get some problems.
