Torn Muscles

I think i've torn a muscle in my left thigh while skating over the weekend. My whole thigh is absolutely killing, i can barely move my leg and my girlfriend pointed out that there's kind of a dent on the left hand side of my leg/outer thigh, a few inches below the hip bone (the place where you'd hit people to give them a dead leg!)
I think this could be where the muscle has been ripped... i could be wrong, but anyway can anyone tell me roughly how long torn muscles take to heal, and whether i should be keeping it still or making sure i keep it moving to stop if seizing up or whatever?
Long shot but any advice could save me a trip to the doctors!
Thanks

Well, every time you lift weights you tare your muscle. I would recommend streching it daily till it heals, so it can heal properly.

!!!dont stretch!!!
this will keep the tear open and not let it heal.
you do want to keep it within normal movement range so that the joint doesnt stiff up, but you definately dont want to stretch

^^^^ yea your right. You have to keep it active and gradually start exercising it as the pain goes away.

Yeah, don't stretch it. I skated hardcore for years before I graduated and got a full time job
If anything, be gentle and just relax. Eat properly, drink lots of water and sleep good. The same things you'd do if you were working out and growing your muscles. Just take it easy, and if you're like me you might even want to try walking on it gently, trying to get some blood flow in there. You need to warm up your muscle and get blood and nutrients flowing in there, otherwise it'll feel bruised and dead.
I'm kind of a masochist when it comes to pain. I'll poke it, twist it, tap it, flex it... doesn't matter what kind of injury it is. I get so obsessed sometimes I'll almost drool when I touch a scab or play with a tweaked ankle. But seriously, if you just rest and take it easy you'll get better. That's what our bodys do. It's just too bad that skateboarding can have so many freak accidents. I remember being able to go outside and do a 360 flip first trick of the day, even better than friggen kick flips. But then you'll be riding down the street and 1/10000000000000 rocks that you roll over will somehow jam into your wheel, toss you on your ass and bruise the muscle in such a weird way that you're out for a few. It fucking sucks. Same with landing primo, or fucking zooting when landing a flip trick....
Get better, man! Do a kickflip for me when ya can.

you know, i heard that when we get certain types of injuries, our body releases a self made opiate. maybe this is why you love it so much... lol.
this opiate is released when people get piercings or tattoos. they arent joking when they say that tattoos are addicting...
