I remember playing my Commodore 64, but the real fun started with NES. But the game that had the biggest impact on me as a video game, was deffinately A link to the past. Honestly that game I still believe is the pinnacle of game development.

Revenge of the Yar on 2600! I wonder how many hours of my life were given up for that game?

Was definitely Interstate '76 for me. Everything about it was perfect, the setting, the cars, especially the music and storyline. It all seemed very possible.
I think that game influenced my tastes in music quite a bit, also it's probably the main reason as to why I like and ended up buying an older car. Now I just need to find a way to mount some machine guns on it... or a paintball gun, that would work too.

Why stop at machine guns? I can rig up an RPG tube for you.
Give me some time and money and I'll get you a minelayer and an oil slick spout as well.

Too bad i'm only half serious... although that does mean I am still considering it. I have my reasons for the machine guns though, especially since you wouldn't have to worry about stopping to reload as much. The mine layer and oil slick dispenser sounds nice too though, if not quite a bit more complex.
It really was a great idea though, for both a game and real life. I've even seen discussions on setting up a sort of damage indicator much like the one from the game, i'm sure a lot of it is very possible to do on a real car.
I've actually been thinking about something like that as a business idea, a sort of destruction derby with paintball guns. Sounds very fun, but I haven't exactly worked out the details yet, maybe if i'm ever extremely rich someday... Well, sorry to get this a bit off topic, easy to get carried away with this sort of thing for me.

So nobody else was a huge Sonic fanboy?
I played the games and watched BOTH of the cartoons. I was obsessed
I'd say that the cartoons definitely influenced me as a kid. I owe some of my attitude from sonic, that's for sure.

Hmmm... video games had not progressed beyond pinball during my early childhood. The first computer game I can remember being hooked on was Zork, but it was text based only.
