Small Outdoor Grow...

Hi, today i did a small 'for-the-hell-of-it' experiment, lol. I have started a small outdoor patch, and by small i mean i used a single 1 pint BRF jar of GT. The "patch" is about 20 x 20cm, and about 4 inches deep. The bottom and sides are lined with black plastic to keep moisture in. There is a 1 cm layer of moist vermiculite on the bottom, followed by about 2 inches of crumbled mycelium, and covered with a 1 inch casing layer of 60/40 Verm/Coir. The patch is under a nice big Furn, and its leaves keep the patch shaded throughout the day (no direct sunlight). I didnt follow a tek for this, just combined a whole lot of things ive read for growing indoors and out, wish me luck!! Any reasons it wouldnt work??
Thanks, Akasha

No reason it wont work - temps are right, it'lbe a bitch to keep moist in this heat though - keep it well watered and you should get a few popping up. Post Pics when you do! Might pay to stick a few drainage holes in the bottom of the plastic.

Cheers, i just added some drainage holes in the bottom of the plastic. Also, this morning i went out to check the patch, and when i looked at it, there was a square area which was still moist on the surface, the soil above my 20x20cm patch is nice and moist, while the rest of the soil is dry. Heres some pics (last time i watered was at 4pm yesterday, these pics are from 8am today), you might be able to see what i mean:

And heres what its shaded by:

Well the shroom-gods must be with me. The first 2 days after starting my outdoor patch were sunny, hot days, around 33C (90F). Then, out of nowhere, temp drops of about 7 deg c. The last 2 days have been about 26C (78F) with cloud cover, and small patches of rain. Up until this summer, this kind of weather was unheard of for the middle of summer in western australia (not necessarily a good thing), so thank you shroom-gods! lol. Will have pics in a few minutes.

haha, glad u can make it out from the pic. The 3 areas of growth are still small, but i only remember there being 1 or 2 little patches yesterday, so it seems to be moving along.
