So i haven't really been able to find much on heating pads here so hear is my question... I've got a really old heating pad that only has a low, med, and high settings. Can i put it on low, cover it with a thick hoodie, and wrap my jars in another hoodie and place it on the pad that has the 1st hoodie over it? so pretty much there is two thick hoodies between the pad and the jars... is this to much heat or will i be ok??

meh - heating pads can be dangerous...especially when they're old, and especially when they're wrapped up tight in clothing. Some people have success with heating pads, but I would invest in a fish tank heater - they're not very expensive (under $20) and you won't run the risk of burning your house down. Plus, most of the heaters have a knob that you can turn to whatever temperature you want, so you can be more accurate when reaching a specific temp rather than just low medium or high.

ok so i went to pets-mart and looked at fish tank heaters and most of them said they will automatically shut off if out of the water!!! And i even asked the lady there for the reason of that and she said the glass will shatter if out of the water. So how is that going to work? I also grabbed one of the thermometers that you stick on the side of the tank and put it in the area where my jars are to find out the temp. Should i just lay it in the area or stick it to one of the jars?

Woh YOU PUT THEM IN WATER DUMMIE lol.You take one tub and fill it with water and add the fish tank heater and then put bricks or something in it so that you can add another tub of the same type into that tub and it wont touch the heater directly and then add as much water as you can without bending the tub to much so that it gets heated on the sides a bit to and then zip tie the mfer down and add the lid and the air in the tub will warm up and is used to incubate the jars. Do NOT turn the fish tank heater on out of water.
