Hello,
Ive been doing alot of research and Ive gotten a little confused about poo. Can you just case with it, or do you have to make it a subsatrate? Also what is the point of pastuerization?? I read how to do it but why??? I know this has probably been asked before so Im sorry in advance but I looked for like 1/2 hour and still am confused. Thanks for reading

you want a casing layer to not have many nutrients at all, poo has alot. thats why we use it as a substrate. you pasteurize to kill harmful bacteria/contamination.

poo is a substrate you don't case with it. this is beucase you don't want your casing layer to have nutrients. this leads to contam issues. your causeing just to provade a better microclimate for your fruits.
you pasturize rather then sterilize poo beucase there are bateria that are good in there. they help fight off BAD contams while your myc is still colonizing the poo. then the myc eats this bacteria. if you were to steriliza the poo you would kill this little helper and more more suseptable to contamssss

if by that you mean when the poo casings are colonized, then you case, incubate for a couple/few days, then put under fruiting conditions. if by colonized substrate you mean colonized wild bird seed, rye, or other spawn material, then you break up the colonized spawn, mix with the pasteurized poo at a 1:5 ish ratio, and then see the top of the post when this is colonized.
