Another thought.

Why do people associate intelligence with how "good" a person is. I know that for the longest time I was intelligent but put it to no good use. I was lazy, irresponsible , deceitful and extremely smart. I used my intelligence for all the wrong reasons but somehow I still felt I was superior to people that where less intelligent than me. I was completely wrong. I knew what it was to be a good person and I knew how to be a good person ... i just didn't do it because it is the easier route not to. In the end the easy route always makes it harder for you. You reap what you sew and, I always knew this I just never applied it to myself. You can be unintelligent and still be a better person than someone who is smarter than you. Actions speak louder than words. Thoughts?

I don't think people associate like that at all. Many serial killers are known to be of extreme intelligence.

I did for a long time. From my experiences people do this all the time. If you can outsmart someone with words you are somehow better than them. If you win an argument you are somehow better than the defeated. If you win a debate does that make you the better man? I think not. That sure is what it feels like sometimes though.

Maybe you're right. Hmmm, I'm thinking of how we are purposely conditioned into judging on scales from childhood. Through competetive sports and especially education. No wonder it feels like that.
I might even think like this still. Sometimes I judge people for being ignorant and I judge them for being so judgmental. Awww, the irony of it all.
Thanks for the post man. Keep it up.

Could wisdom and/or knowledge been seen as virtues? And if you were to judge someone as less wise or smart than you, would you then judge their value as humans? Or would you just judge their wisdom and since holding wisdom to be a important virtue in your own case, wouldn't that automatically result in a natural judgment? Still not as a better person.

I used to do the same thing as you. Until.... I don't know what exactly, but something happened and made realize that I was kind of superficial considering that being "smarter" made me superior. I think that it's just one of those "set of values" that we tend to copy instead of thinking, really thinking about them. And yes, it's a shame, cause being good is from what I learned in my life, more important then being intelligent. Intelligence doesn't really make you happy, kindness and understanding, yes.

is this about the difference between cleverness and being of deep and lasting value to self and others in a spiritual sense?
