    #5418669 - 03/19/06 12:27 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Alright so i just got a couple ?'s Since the recipies call for 1cc per jar on a 1/2 pint jar, should i use 2cc for 1 pint jars? And should i be sterilizing the needle before each jar i do or does the needle only need to be flame sterilized once?

you'd be better off sterelizing the needle every time
as far as how much innoculant to use... you could use a little more it might make colonizetion a little faster but not neccerely

if you're worried about running out of innoculant you can always make liquid colture...

Alright thanx, yeah i ended up using 2cc per jar and sterilized the needle after every jar. Now should i put the foil back on the tops of the lids or leave it off???? Also would wrapping the jars in a hoodie and sticking them under my bed be good for colonizing? I have a heating pad, will i be able to get away with setting it on low and putting it under the hoodie? Will that help them colonize faster or is there better methods?

my friend used a heatin gpad for my first grow and it sucks the moisture outof your jars, same with a heating blanket.

after he inoculated he doesnt put the foil back on, but thatsprobably cause hes got tyvek under the lid and polyfill in the inoculation hole. putting a coffee filter on it with a rubber band wouldnt hurt though.

as long as teh foil isn't on tight it doesn't matter. as for your hodie thing thats up to you not on can tell you how hot thats goign to be you'll have to check and see yourself. you can put them up on your monitor and hot water heater and wireless router and cable modem al lthose places ass a few degrees depending on what you put over them.

ok so should i take the foil off completely then? and try something else like that coffee filter idea? and as far as the heating pad goes, on it's low setting it's about the same warmth as the router and cable modem
