Do these pf jars look done?
    #5418524 - 03/19/06 11:39 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

This is my first attempt at trying to do this. I starter the jars
on feb 19 so it's been a month. Some are fully covered in mycellium
but no pins starting and some are still only half colonized. They have been at the same point for almost 2 weeks now.

I forgot to add, I have about 6 jars completley covered and
6 that are about half done. It is sort of cool here with the
temp going from 68-72.
thanks..

thats why its taking so long!~

Optimum colonizing temp range is 81 to 84 degrees F.

I like 81 degrees F...for colonizing my jars.
They fully colonize in about 7 days...from a multi-spore inoculation.

The first jar in the picture looks done.

I suggest making an incubator to make the jars colonize faster.

In the grow guides it says to wait untill you see pins, is this
necessary?

Up the temp & possibly take the tinfoil off the top, I think I see tinfoil. Did you add a dry layer of verm ontop of the cake?

no

and your gonna want to dunk those cakes since it took so long to colonize.

they will be dehydrated...and the dunk will add needed moisture to the cakes.

have you read on how to dunk cakes yet?

Yeah I have one layer of tin foil with the 4 holes from inoculation, and a verm top.
