Well, i was moving my cactus back outside the other day and one of the arms broke off. I want to save this peice for later and was wondering what is the best way to turn it to powder? Maybe chop into chip like slices and dry in a dehydrator? If so what temp? If there are any other ways i am open to suggestions.
thanks peace

powder im not sure, but if u want to go to a liquid, im not positive without finding it on the net again.. but i think u can cut it into little wedges or pieces.. stick it in a blender.. then like heat it util it looks like snot, then put it into like a t-shirt that will allow liquid to run out.. then hang the ball of snot (your cacti) above a bowl.. and let the mescaline liquid filter into the bowl

I'd do something similar: Id take that ball of snot inside the tshirt, and run water through it a second time into the bowl. Maybe a third, if you wanna be anal about it and have a lot of time before you wanna use it. Then I'd let the water evaporate (speed up process with a low flame, maybe?) and dry out the remaining stuff. Then I'd eat the stuff in some pudding or something or add it so a small amount of whatever drink and do it all at once, in a quick shot or two.

I've dried pedro by physically removing the green tissue and putting it in a warm oven for an hour, then letting it dry at room temperature. works well, powders in a coffee grinder.

i do not want to extract it now, or do anything other than dry it for storage, so i have no need to strain anything.....also, snyder, how did you remove the green tissue from the rest of the plant, just slice it off, with a filet knife or somehting, lol, it is real thin??
thanks

im talking about drying the cactus for later extraction. What i understand is that most of the alkaloids are stored in the green tissue, and this is the part i want, correct? If not should i just dry it into chips, this would seem like the easiest way? I am willing to dry just the green skin, doesnt seem too easy to separate from the core part, but that is a good idea stonerguy...

you can just slice them up in 1/2 inch slices and dry them either in the sun or in a oven for no more than 250F. This is how I do it, i only remove the spines.
