No thx, i dont need to sign a petition, i already boycott them.
AOL should be allowed to charge whatever they want. Just dont use them, they are overpriced and they suck which is enough reason to boycott them.
Oh, and how is AOL charging for e-mail threaten the existence of the internet as we know it? Are you afriad that all e-mail will have a fee eventually?

You're misinterpreting their intentions.
You will still be able to mail anyone on AOL so long as their spam filters don't flag your email as spam. Even then, if the intended recipient adds to you their spam filter exemption list, your mail will always get through to them.
What AOL is doing is offering spammers a bypass of the spam filters if they pay for the privilege. This is bad for AOL subscribers because it means that they will start getting spam from any spammer who pays (bribes) AOL to allow their email to bypass the filters.
This policy doesn't bother me one bit. In fact, it will probably reduce the amount of spam I get when spammers realize they have a legal, captive audience at AOL as long as they pay for the filter bypass.
I feel sorry for the millions of AOL subscribers, but maybe this new policy will finally wake them up and make them find an ethical and reliable ISP.

Yeah, AOL is already a joke. I doubt many people here use it anyway because it sucks so bad.
AOL is designed for suckers who don't know shit about the internet.

agreed.. its like a dummies guide to the internet.. people used to see the commericals and once they got their first computer they went with AOL.. (atleast i know MANY people/ families who have).. but once people gain experience with computers they realize how bad AOL sucks.. and switch..
Yahoo SBC DSL is what i have now, its cheaper than AOL and WAYYY faster.. i love it

I boycotted AOL years ago for one reason only. If you call to cancel your account they transfer you to the ONE person handling all those calls. Thus, putting you on hold for 25, 30, 45, 60 minutes before that asshole picks up the line and tries to resell you their business.
They can get fucked
