warning: this is a rant about money and cars

So I'm in the hole. About 10g's, I don't mind saying it. I'm fucked. Between school and my car, I'm right fucked. I do nothing but work, this weekend alone I worked 30 hours. My car has cost me 3g's this month alone. I want to sell it, actually I'd be fine if it even just burned to the ground. However, I'm still paying for it, I still owe 2g's on the car. It should be paid off by June, but the car itself won't last that long, I'd be surprised if it made it to next week. I live in the middle of no where, our transit sucks. I also live with my parents, who are insisting that I keep the car, (affectionatly named the gutterslut), this is driving me crazy, because if I sell the car and cancel my insurance then I can use the money I would have paid in insurance to pay off the remainder of the car faster. Here's the next issue, last week, after my car had caught fire, I had to borrow my brother's car once and my sisters car once. My brother this morning woke me up to tell me his transmission is fucked and has decided its my fault and I know owe him $2500 for a new tranny. I borrowed the car on Tuesday, it is now Sunday...how is this my fault? apparently I should have been driving his car in over drive and wasn't. I probably should have just lied and said I was, but when he asked last week I didn't think anything of it. He's known his tranny was going to go for months and now because of timing its my fault and my parents are completely on his side. *sigh* I'm not even sure what to do next. In 2 weeks I'll be done school for the term (while still oweing 2g's) and can probably pick up another job or 2 (yes, blink I'm going to the keg). But this is the other part to that problem, my brother has a good job, it pays $15/hr and is steady work, he just went out and blew $400 on clothes yesterday. I'm a waitress. See the difference?
I don't even know. Anyways, apologies for the rant, I'm just tired and frustrated, thanks if anyone even read this.

a transmission will take a whole lot longer than a few days to develop a problem and the the difference between driving in D and OD would not make the difference. I would tell your brother that he's pretty much being an asshole trying to blame it on you

Holy shit! You're in debt 10 grand? Does that include your student loans?
You should have just inherited money like me. Problem solved.

I don't have any student loans, I've been trying to pay each year off as it comes, thats why I work so much, it does include what I still owe on this years tuition, plus my "Books credit card" I couldn't afford books one year, so I applied for a card, alot of it is credit cards, which I know are the devil, but when you have to buy books and pay bills sometimes a card is necessary, with that tho, I have never bought something for unnecessary with the card, like clothes or stuff, on occasion I have to put gas on it, because I'll have no money and be stranded.
As for inheritance....
I had a trust fund as a kid and put all my money since I was born into it, christening, birthdays, christmas any money I was given. My aunt opened it for me. It was in her name. And then she lost her job and needed money. Needless to say I no longer have a trust fund, and don't expect to ever see that money.
The inheritance is another interesting subject. I was promised an inheritance for like my whole life, my grandfather was loaded, I was the favourite, it was like a sure thing. And then, when the day came, there was no money. He owed money to ppl in Sicily and that was the end of that. No questions asked.

Your aunt took money that was set aside for you? I'd be pretty fucking pissed about that.
Don't worry Gillette. You'll get a good job, be raking in that dough, and you'll get back in the black.

I suppose I should be pissed, but there's a part of me that thinks, well she had a kid to support (that ended up being a total shithead kid) I guess she needed the money. It'd be nice if she'd offer to pay it back now tho :/
Yeah I keep telling myself that, one day I'll have money, 2 more years to go.

I hate cars and money. My car was junked two weeks ago, so I've had to borrow my sister's car to get to my classes. I'm not in debt but I dont have any money either. Got about 6 dollars in my checking account and 5 in savings.
Why is life so fucking expensive? To be honest I don't see any feasible way of making enough money to ever have my own car and my own place to live.

Gillette is in the mob. You could extort some money from local businesses. I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck.
Having a crappy car is better than not having one at all. Mine was out of service for a year before I could afford to fix it, had to get rides all the time, now that sucked.

Also, as for your brothers transmission HAPPENING to go on Sunday when you borrowed it Tuesday - I'd tell him to go fuck himself.
You don't owe him shit for a transmission that was already dying. If he says you do, tell him to PROVE you broke it, and then go from there.
As for your aunt - Sorry if this sounds awful, but if my aunt did that to me, I would have her in court immeidately. I don't care if it family or not, she stole thousands of dollars from you, and has given none of it back.

the tranny thing sounds like bullshit. not drving a car in overdrive isnt going to bust a tranny. i used to drive my camaro in regular drive only and i had that thing for a few years...never once did i blow a tranny. as for what u owe on your current car... try finding something inexpensive at a dealership, trading your vehicle in and taking a little negative equity on a new ride. a few thousand in negative is only going to affect your payment by maybe $30 a month. also before you by a car have a mechanic that u trust look it over. look for something basic, late model and with low mileage..maybe even with some of the factory warranty balance on it.

Wow, I hate stories like this, I can relate to them so well and it fills me with a lot of sympathy. Ive been in and seen many similar situations to know that usually the best idea to start any kind of change is by attempting to solve, or at least inhibit some of these problems. Lets start off with the car issue. As it has been said before-your brother seems to be clearly in the wrong about this one on the transmission- My personal advice would be to find someone who knows a little something about cars (clearly not a mechanic as they cost $$$) who can mention to him that hes being a retard by assuming it was your short time use that messed with his car. Secondly as for YOUR car. 2 years ago my brother went through hell with his car which he bought slightly used, and fell to bits within the first year, it took him the remained of the year to pay off the car that he couldnt even drive by the end. On this situation Ide say literally ripping off the insurance company is your best solution, even if its simply finding out what your policy covers and leaving it in a shitty neighbourhood.Use the insurance money to finish paying the debt. Theres no point in paying full price for a machine thats broken anyway.
As for the situation with your family, well theres really very little you can do about that other than shunning them all, and reminding them each and every day about how fucking pathetic they are for taking money from and refusing to help a family member . Good Luck my friend, Good Karma to ya.

Damn, when I went to Canada in '00, I got I think $1.50 - $1.60 CAD for every $1.00 USD.
Thats the trap of today. You need stuff to get a job to make money, but you need the money first to get the stuff, or you wont get a job, which will give you money.
Hey, at least you are at the SHROOMERY. You can figure something out. A couple double tubs and your debt is BYE BYE.
Get creative. You could probably auction off locks of your hair as well to all the cyber shrooming weirdos here.

I can relate Gillette...I'm paying $500 a month for a vehicle that I can't drive because of a blown motor. (My own stupidity)....and I still owe about $7,000 on it...ugh.
Don't worry too much about it babe, it's only money...it's not worth getting too stressed about. As far as your brother is concerned...tell him to get stuffed. He was obviously aware that his transmission was already going if he was worried about if it was in OD or not...at the very worst you should maybe pay a portion of the repairs...but certainly not the whole thing, that's absolutely ridiculous. I'm surprised that your brother would even ask that of you.

I'd bet your brother set your car on fire (rig'd it so it would) that way you'd have to borrow and break his car.
Good luck with that. I was in debt $3500 for a seadoo that was stolen (I didn't have ins. cause it was in the shop when it was stolen and now that shop is bankrupt.) I owe less than a grand on it now.
