Oh crap, I need help. . .

Ok, so my friend has a casing in a container, with an ultrasonic humidifier. The casing has been in for about 24 hours. My friend noticed that the upper part of it seemed too dry, so he's had the humidifier on for about 1/2 an hour. How oftern should my friend turn on the humidifier (perlite, at this point is out of the question)? Should he turn it on untill the walls of the terrarium "sweat"? How long should the myc. take to break to the surface of the casing (the casing is only about 3/4 inch thick (yes, my friend knows it should be deeper, but he didn't have quite enough 50/50 mix).
When the time comes for light, will my friend be ok if he uses a 60 watt light?
Thanks for your help, my friend needs it/

If humans are what they eat, I'm just a huuuuuuge mushroom.

From the sound of it, your casing should be covered up and placed in incubating temps for a few days until you can see the mycellium in the casing. Then you can put it back in your terrarium/container at the lower temps for pinning. This gives you plenty of time to set your container up with some perlite.
As far as the light, if you can see the casing, it's enough light. The 60watt bulb is more than enough.

i don't understand why people worry about light. shrooms usally do the most growing at night in the wild.maybe i am crazy but i seem to think that they grow faster with longer dark periods.

real eyes, realize, real lies
