hpoo to hpoo spawn
    #5417399 - 03/18/06 10:05 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

If i already have a good amount of hpoo colonized (i spawned with BRF cakes) could i crumble that colonized hpoo and add it to more hpoo and let it colonize that to get a bigger grow? kinda like a spawn to spawn. Would this invite to many contams? I would be clean with it all.

bump...sorry I don't have the information your looking for, but I would also like to find out more information about this...I personally think it may work..but don't take my word for it...maybe a more experienced grower might know better than I do. lol

yes you can. the problem is that after a few flushes your myc will be tired and slow to colonize the new poo. the longer this takes the more time for contams also the weak myc is less resistant to contams. 3rd, you can't do this indefinitely because you can only get some much growth. you get less and less flushes the weaker the growth gets and run into the cost benefit principle.

im talking before i have gotten any flushes off it at all. just taking the newly, almost fully colonized hpoo, and breaking it up and adding it to more hpoo.

from what i've heard, you can spawn a third time, but no further than that.

if you're looking to create a larger grow, i'd suggest to make your first spawning amount greater than usual. that way the mycelium colonizes your poo faster; helping it out for a second spawn.

i usually spawn 3 times in a grow.

1) lc or spore solution inoculation into "mother" jars.

2) g2g transfer from "mother" jars

3) jars spawned to poo

i'ts always been pretty fruitful for me.

Okay, so from what I am beginning to understand is that myc is "one" whole organism...not a network of cooperative organisms? So therefore the organism can grow tired because it is in fact "one" growing living thing? What if you seperate it? Do both sides experience the same amount of fatigue?

haha no

mycelium is one whole organism working as a network

think bacteria without the actual replication.

if you were to cut a piece, and move it to another medium for it to grow on, it would. spawning is in a way "cloning" the previous mycelium

I would be one to think that its seasonal growth, not that it continually grows. I'm not sure, though.

well i did it tonight. The already spawned poo broke up SO nicely. I mixed it all in with the new. On the poo that had already been colonized i noticed the smallest dot of that fucking mean green. I took it out and a lot of the myc surrounding it, then looked EXTREAMLY hard at the rest of the poo to make sure there were no more spots. I didnt see any. What is this poos survival possibility?
