Strange Question ~ Human Hair

I know that human hair is positive composting material; would it work at all in place of coco coir in fluffing up BRF/verm jars? Is this just insane? Hasn't been posted before, and I've actually been wondering for a while. Provided that it's clean?

Yes it will work BUT it has to be only pubies their structure is perfect AND they must be extremely fresh and picked by hand moments before pasturization/sterilization. GL

Yes, but it must be FEMALE pubies, which are getting harder and harder to find. In the wild they tend to grow in very small, dense patches, if at all, and collecting specimens can be a dangerous undertaking. My friend Joe almost lost an eye trying to collect the rare red-haired variety.

The hair is for structure not water holding capabilities!!! It's all in the book "Basic Pubies Casings 101" you really should pickup a copy.

Exactly thats the 10% we can do without, besides they'll probably blow themselves up once they get a PC anyway! So long!!! It's Gods way of weeding us out BTW absolutely no disrespect doubledutch were just playin with the idea not you.

Paul's latest book has a picture of oyster mushrooms pinning on human hair. I did a grow on it last year, but found it performed poorly. I didn't even post the pics. It might be good for a bit of texture though, but don't count on it for much in the way of nutes. RR
