Help...no more growth!!!
    #5415010 - 03/18/06 01:39 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

A month ago I inoculated 16 1/2 pint jars(8 equador & 8 cambodian) In a week and half all my jars were 80-90% colonized but in the last couple of weeks they have stopped growing. The entire bottom and mid section is completly covered but the top part right below my vermiculite layer is still uncolonized. I read in other forums to take off the tape on the lid and let air in because the vermiculite on top will protect it from contaminants. I have tryed that along with turning the jars over but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

it sounds to me like the top layer might have dried out! In this case you can try to add a little water to the jar by sprying diluted water into the jar with the lid off for a second. (2 Pumps max per jar) with the vermlayer it will block out the contams but help keep the moisture.
What does anybody else think about this.

Thanks for the info. Im going to try it tonight on 2 or 3 bottles and see if it helps it. I dont want to risk contaminating them all at one time.
