WBS questions
    #5414547 - 03/17/06 08:59 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Hey everyone, ive been reading up on wbs a lot and i have some questions

is tyvek absolutely necessary? anything that can be used instead?

would pint jars be ok for wbs?

would 2 or 3 pint jars be enough for 2 casings (each one about 12" x12") of 50/50+

is the correct order for jars: grain, tyvek, lid with hole plugged with polyfill, then two layers of tin foil

after inoculation do you have to put the foil back on or keep the polyfill in?

is polyfill just cotton balls? can i use cotton balls or do i have to find polyfill?

sorry there were so many questions, any and all answers are greatly appreciated

1. No
2. Yes, micropore tape or polyfill
3. Yes
4. Yes, but you would have a very thin substrate layer, resulting in small fruits.
5. Forget Tyvek.
6. No. Take the foil off.
7 & 8. No. Polyfill is inert polyester fiber filling used to stuff pillows and such. Cotton would be contam city.

take off of leave on the tinfoil depending on how dry/ wet your grain is. get spore tape its wonderful. double layer your gas exchange hole with it. make another hole as an injection site. put caulking or silicone in the hole and you can inject your jars out in your open dirty kitchen.
