my friend on his first times cased and had great success with it, so im sure youd be able to do the same.

I suggest that you only case one cake. The reason is that cakes are more likely to give you shrooms for a first time, so that you'd become self-sufficient with spores. Therefore, you should have shrooms earlier with cakes and you're less likely to become impatient. The casing is the bonus. If everything is OK, then you'll have extra shrooms. If it doesn't, then you'll have at least gained experience.
